I've decided to come up w/ a list of players you want this off-season. Here's my list, feel free to make yours. Keep in mind that we have AT LEAST 30M coming off, 47M if Mad Dog retires, and Nomar leaves. Also, post your 25-man roster as well. Anyways, here's my list:

Damon

Furcal

Burnett

The Farns

Taverez

Lineup:

1. Damon

2. Furcal

3. Lee

4. Ramirez

5/6. Some combo of Walker/Pie/Murton/Burnitz

7. Barrett

8. Niefi/Cedeno

9. Pitcher

Rotation:

Big Z

Prior

Mad Dog

Burnett

Rusch

Williams (if Maddux retires)

Pen:

Wood

Williamson

Dempster

Novoa

The Farns

Taverez

Ohman (ONLY if Williams is in the rotation due to Mad Dog retiring)

Bench: Platoon Walker/Pie/Murton/Burnitz and Niefi/Cedeno, that's 3 spots. Blanco as the catcher, and Hairston.

you really think they're going to get all of those guys?

He said this was his wish list, not what he expects to happen. He probably knows the Cubs won't get everyone he wants, but let's let him dream.

I think this may be more realistic:

Damon will be a strech, as his agent is Boras and there will no doubt be a Yankees-Red Sox bidding war for him. The Yankees may not need him, but will bid for him and play the triangle defense game. PM me for an explination. Furcal's agent is not Boras. I think the Farns will stay w/ the Braves, I don't know about Taverez, as Cubs luck is he'll suck, Cards luck is he's a STUD. Burnett, I don't know if Tribune wants to pay $$$.

Brian Giles - $35/3, with a combination team/player/vesting option for a fourth season.

Austin Kearns - acquired in trade from the Reds - OR - Jacque Jones - $16.5/3.

Rafael Furcal - $40/4, with a combination team/player/vesting option for a fifth season.

Rob Mackowiak - acquired in trade from Pittsburgh, as he may become too costly for the Pirates as a second time arbitration eligible player.

Billy Wagner - $24/3.

LF - Jacque Jones or Brian Giles

CF - Adam Greenberg

RF - Brian Giles or Austin Kearns

3B - Aramis Ramirez

SS - Rafael Furcal

2B - Nomar Garciaparra

1B - Derrek Lee

C - Michael Barrett

OF - Matt Murton

IF - Neifi Perez

IF - Ronny Cedeno

UT - Rob Mackowiak

C - Henry Blanco

SP - Kerry Wood

SP - Greg Maddux

SP - Carlos Zambrano

SP - Mark Prior

SP - Glendon Rusch

RP - Rich Hill

RP - Will Ohman

RP - Todd Wellemeyer or Michael Wuertz (prefer Wellemeyer, as he will be out of options)

RP - Roberto Novoa

RP - Scott Williamson

RP - Ryan Dempster

RP - Billy Wagner

It looks like this would wind up being around $105.

Where do I sign? I could definitely live with this heading into next season...though I would rather fill the bullpen with several quality guys instead of one, dominant guy.

I don't live Neifi on the bench but I'm a realist, and in all likelihood he'll be brought back.

Julian Tavarez? Really? Is this a video game where everything in the past doesn't matter. So much so that the guy who kicked a ground ball to Fred McGriff rather than picking it up and throwing it can be a desired acquisition? Hey and face it Farnsworth is never coming back so waste energy on something else.

Oh and if anyone would like their wishlist with pics for their sig like mine, let me know in this thread or PM me. I did one for AC036198 but i guess he turned it off for this thread.

damon

my thought is to sign nomar very cheap, especially if he finishes this year healthy. have cedeno as a back up....if you sign furcal then i guess you either trade cedeno or make him a second basemen. nomar could be a one year deal.

if you sign damon either patterson becomes your leftfielder or he is also traded. that would also steer my rightfield decision. if we keep patterson then it's tough to sign giles. we would have 3 lefty starters in the of, all with little to medicocre power(giles and patterson might go 25 but might hit 15 also)if patterson's gone...giles would be the guy! great fit, older but gets on base.obviously manram would be awesome in wrigley but i don't see us pulling it off. i go with murton or another righty.

bench...would like to see some with some pop to pinch hit and can play the corners. it would nice to be able to put someone with a bat in for dlee/aram occassionally and not macias! geoff blum? branyan would be great if they would go for it. branyan may look for somewhere to start. i want cedeno up without neifi. i don't have a problem with neifi but if he is here, cedeno won't play. it would be nice to have hairston as a utility player but he will want to be starter also. so i don't think he goes for it. he would be a nice balance to damon, walker or giles against lefties, and to spell murton some also.

guardado would be nice as a lefty setup/parttime closer

keep dempster rather than sign wagner(just because i know the cubs will not get everyone)

the 12 million dollar question is wood. as i see it, the rotation has got to be wood,z,prior and maddux. i don't see anyone taking wood or maddux retiring. so do we sign/trade for another stud starter knowing wood is a huge question mark. of course if we do, it will cut into what we sign for positions.the problem is if we bank on wood and he falters we then have a staff featuring maddux, williams and rusch/hill(or the like) and that will not get it done. i don't see a youngster ready for next year...maybe we go with kerry and an improved offense, then deal at the break if he goes down.

Change Millwood to Burnett and we got a deal. Seriously, I would be very happy with this team.

I don't want Tavarez. I had more than enough of him the first time he was with the Cubs.

Come on, you know you want to see him kick another guy who charges the mound!

My wish list:

I'd like to see them go cheap at SS and LF to build up this bench...

Starting Line-up:

1)Sign Giles....(FA)

2)Trade for Mench to play RF and occasionally CF, that includes using Hill, Williams, Guzman etc to get him.

3)Start Murton in LF

4)Start Cedeno at SS (+12mil)

Lineup:

Walker-2B

Murton-LF

Lee-1B

Giles-CF

Ramirez-3B

Mench-RF

Barrett-C

Cedeno-SS

Bench:

Sign Cruz JR as the 4th OF'er

Saenz (best RH'ed bat off the bench and can play 3B when Ramirez gets injured and give Lee a day off at 1B)

O. Palmiero as the 5th OF'er (LH'ed bat off the bench),

Chris Gomez-utility player can play 2B, SS, 3B.

Chris Woodward-another utility play who can play all the IF positions.

(+6 mil max.)

Blanco

Pitchers:

Z

Prior

Wood

Maddux

Millwood (FA) (+6)

Bullpen

BJ Ryan (FA-CL)

Dempster

Sauerbeck (FA-LOOGY)

Ohman (2nd LH'er)

Van Buren (sit. RH'er)

Rusch/Williams/etc. long-relief. (+10)

+34 mil,

Then factor 10mil for Sosa, 5 mil for Hawkins, 5 for Burnitz, 4 for Remlinger, 2 mil for JoBo, 8 for Nomar, Perez and Macias (just under 2mil). (-36 mil)

Interesting how everyone is concentrating on free agents. I happen to think this off-season's biggest move will come via trade. Hendry will be aggressive with money to spend coming off of a dismal year.

My current belief is that Manny Ramirez will become a cub in January.

I think Wagner is a slim possibility but Ryan will be re-signed by Baltimore, as they have the cash and incentive to keep him.

I think our big free agent will be A.J Burnett

I think CF will be left between Patterson and Pie.

I think Murton's arm will be tested in RF

I think Walker's option will be picked up.

Nomar will be gone and Cedeno will play short until he has an 0-4 (likely in spring training), at which point Neifi will take over for the rest of the season)

The bullpen will be anchored by Dempster and Williamson. Ohman as the LOOGY, Hill as the main lefty. Other spots to be won in spring training.

Thus:

Cedeno

Walker

Lee

Ramirez

Ramirez

Murton

Patterson

Barrett

Zambrano

Prior

Burnett

Wood

Maddux

Ohman

Hill

Williamson

Dempster

Van Buren

??

??

Neifi

Macias

Blanco

Pie

LH power

Which, in my mind looks great (except for Pie). However, as soon as a couple injuries occur, we have

Cedeno

Neifi

Lee

Ramirez

Macias

Murton

Patterson

Blanco

Zambrano

Maddux

Hill

???

???

Of course, we would still have money left over. If we really splurged and kept Nomar and went after Damon, we'd have to be world-series favorites.

Damon

Walker

Lee

Ramirez

Ramirez

Garciaparra

Murton

Barrett

Zambrano

Prior

Burnett

Wood

Maddux

Looks like an all-star team.

Number One on my wish list....

Dusty Baker and a mid-level prospect (Sing) to Los Angeles

Milton Bradley to Chicago

Anyone think this is realistic. I would love it. I think Bradley would be happy with the racial makeup of this team
