To celebrate the re-signing of Aramis, I wanted to finally buy his jersey. I mean I should have the jersey of a true Cub. I am in VA and the only jerseys I have ever gotten have been Prior and Wood jerseys in Finish Line and Foot Locker. I wanted to know if you could direct me to the best (and least expensive) vendor from which to order a Cubs Replica (perhaps Authentic) Jersey. I know I am in the minority on this, but I really think Bonds has earned the right to get a reasonable amount of freedom in the clubhouse. Sure, there is the possibility that he can have a negative effect on on the team morale. However, just like wheeli said, look at what he brings. I mean, even if his offensive numbers decline. He still has THE BEST eye in the game. ANY mistake that a pitcher makes, it is over the wall (All of you and I know this.) I say sign him, give him ten...twelve million dollars. He will want to prove everybody wrong in SF and all the teams that would not sign him. His fielding is suspect, but if Pie is in CF, that will aleviate some of the dangers of Bonds. Despite the problems with his knees, teams still fear Bonds. They fear him because they are smart and they know what he brings to the plate. How could we pass that up. And honestly, this is just the kind of signing JH would jump on.

Yet, once I saw this thread, I felt the need to throw out what I would have done with the Cubs. Most may not agree with these moves and I would love to hear your opinions. My first move as GM would have been to fire Baker and hire Leo Mazzone by sending a prospect to Atlanta. However, working for the Trib, I know that they will never eat Dusty's contract. Therefore, I set out to make sure that no one on the Cubs roster has the prototypical "just good enough" player to step into the role of "Dusty's boy" just because the "dude can catch the ball." Next, I would have offered Nomar G. an incentive laden deal with a base of 6.5 million dollars with a mutual option for 2007 worth 9 million dollars before the arbitration deadline. His role on the 2006 Chicago Cus would be to platoon in RF with Murton and at SS with Cedeno. I would have non-tendered Jose Macias, Jeromy Burnitz, and Neifi Perez and offered Glendon Rusch arbitration. Todd Walker - 2.5 million dollar option exercised.
