  1. It is that time of year again...when the "professionals" make their predictions as to how the standings, awards, and post season will result. Time for the NSBB crew to give their opinions on what will happen. 5. To celebrate the re-signing of Aramis, I wanted to finally buy his jersey. I mean I should have the jersey of a true Cub. I am in VA and the only jerseys I have ever gotten have been Prior and Wood jerseys in Finish Line and Foot Locker. I wanted to know if you could direct me to the best (and least expensive) vendor from which to order a Cubs Replica (perhaps Authentic) Jersey. I truly hope I posted this in an appropriate forum, and if it is not, I apologize to my fellow posters and the moderators. Thanks in advance!
  6. I know I am in the minority on this, but I really think Bonds has earned the right to get a reasonable amount of freedom in the clubhouse. Sure, there is the possibility that he can have a negative effect on on the team morale. However, just like wheeli said, look at what he brings. I mean, even if his offensive numbers decline. He still has THE BEST eye in the game. ANY mistake that a pitcher makes, it is over the wall (All of you and I know this.) I say sign him, give him ten...twelve million dollars. He will want to prove everybody wrong in SF and all the teams that would not sign him. His fielding is suspect, but if Pie is in CF, that will aleviate some of the dangers of Bonds. Despite the problems with his knees, teams still fear Bonds. They fear him because they are smart and they know what he brings to the plate. How could we pass that up. And honestly, this is just the kind of signing JH would jump on.
  7. San Francisco Chronicle: Is there anyway that Dusty goes Moneyball or Bean would actually do this? [/url]http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/10/21/SPGENLTCBC1.DTL
  8. Sa-MAR-zhuh I thought it was Sa-MAR-ja No, there is definitely a hard "zh" in there. Just picture no I in between the Z and J and you will pretty much have it. Maybe the Cubs have finally given up on baseball and want to make a run at some semi-professional football with Samardzija as their star player  Ok...or they could just be throwing away 8 million dollars on another Drew Henson.
  9. This may be an odd request...but I wanted to see if any one could direct me to a source where I can download a video of Arams grand slam off of Dontrelle Willis in Game 4 of the 2003 NLCS. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. \ Vance, smooth, and everybody who viewed this thread -- I am so sorry guys. I just got home a few minutes ago and saw what I had done. Sorry about the monstrous avi. I fixed it. Did not even realized what I had done. I don't post much, but I enjoy everyone's comments on NSBB. Def. the best Baseball forum on the net. You guys are awesome. Hopefully I won't be a repeat offender. Thanks for the PM ndistops. I appreciate it.
  11. I think you are right. We play that song in my Spin class at the gym. "C'mon ride the train" is what it is called.

  13. I don't know if this belongs here or not but...does anyone have a couple of large Aramis photos either at third base or at the plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D
  14. I do not post on the boards very often, but I am a constant reader and am officially addicted to this amazing community. Yet, once I saw this thread, I felt the need to throw out what I would have done with the Cubs. Most may not agree with these moves and I would love to hear your opinions. My first move as GM would have been to fire Baker and hire Leo Mazzone by sending a prospect to Atlanta. However, working for the Trib, I know that they will never eat Dusty's contract. Therefore, I set out to make sure that no one on the Cubs roster has the prototypical "just good enough" player to step into the role of "Dusty's boy" just because the "dude can catch the ball." Next, I would have offered Nomar G. an incentive laden deal with a base of 6.5 million dollars with a mutual option for 2007 worth 9 million dollars before the arbitration deadline. His role on the 2006 Chicago Cus would be to platoon in RF with Murton and at SS with Cedeno. I would have non-tendered Jose Macias, Jeromy Burnitz, and Neifi Perez and offered Glendon Rusch arbitration. Todd Walker - 2.5 million dollar option exercised. Trades: Cubs - Todd Wellemeyer Jermaine Van Buren Colorado - Larry Bigbie ________________________________ Cubs- C. Patterson Brandon Sing John Koronka Dodgers: Milton Bradley ________________________________ Cubs Jerome Williams Angel Guzman Felix Pie Phillies Bobby Abreu ________________________________ Free Agents Bobby Howry - 2 years at 3.5 mil. Chad Bradford - 1 year at 1 mi. John Mabry 1yr. at 1 mil. Abraham Nunez 1 year at 1.3 million dollars Jeff Weaver 3 years at 10.5 mil Lineup: Milton Bradley Todd Walker Bobby Abreu Derrek Lee Aramis Ramirez Matt Murton/Nomar G. M. Barrett R. Cedeno Bench J. Hairston L. Bigbie A. Nunez N. Garciaparra Henry Blanco Rotation M. Prior C. Zambrano Greg Maddux Kerry Wood (if healthy) Jeff Weaver Alt. Rusch/Hill Pen Michael Wuertz Will Ohman Bobby Howry Chad Bradford Ryan Dempster Roberto Novoa My final and most important move of the off-season would be to file a restraining order against Marquis Grissom to prevent him from even coming close to becoming a starter at any position. What do you think. Is this a "dusty proof" team?
