...and have been playing very well. My buddy (Sox fan) is starting to get very nervous.

The Sox have six more games against the Indians.

This could get REAL interesting.

Does anyone here think the Sox will choke?

If the Sox get in, they will have backed in, and will have made it b/c of their play in April and May. They will go 3 and out, IMO, just like 2000. If they miss the playoffs, I will make sure Sox fans never see the end of it. This collapse would be worse than the Yankees collapse, when they were 3 outs away, or the 69 collapse by the Cubs. The worst collapse in all eternity is in the making.

Yeah, the Sox weren't going to blow that lead. The jumped out too far at the start of the year and built an almost insurmountable lead.

There was some hope though....

I still like Cleveland's chances if they can get to the post-season. They have really been playing well in the second half. 30-20 since the ASB, and that includes getting swept in four vs. Sox right after the break.

The Sox won't blow that lead, but they'll lose in the first round. I don't see them getting past any of the other teams likely to make the playoffs.

Personally, I'm hoping they lose in three extremely embarrassing defeats.

Yeah, that's what I see happening too. Especially if they have to play the A's. I can't see them doing that great in the postseason after the second half they've had.

I think their pitching, especially with McCarthy in spot start/long relief, have just as good of a chance to get to win a series as anyone else. I used to be one of the people saying they'd be lucky to win a game in the playoffs, but it all depends on who wins the WC. If it's the Yankees or Indians I think they've got a decent shot at getting to the ALCS.

Cliff Lee is pitching today, we can take it back to 5 1/2.

(Although I'm much more concerned with keeping our game and a half lead on the Yankees.)

We have a HUGE series coming up with Oakland next. We can all but put them out of it with a sweep, or take a good lead with a series win.

If you sweep Oakland I think you'll wind up catching the Sox.

Chicago has beaten us 10/13 this year. It would be a much closer race if we hadn't gotten dominated by them this year.

However, we still have 6 with them, so maybe our luck with the Chisox can change.

I think they're on their way to the toilet. Whether or not they have enough time to pass you on the way down remains to be seen.

Tonight's game reminds me of the months immediately following the strike, back when Cleveland got almost all of the national telecasts - partly because they had an awesome team, and partly because they were the only team besides Colorado that drew worth a damn.

I think I read soemthing in the paper last week that said if you threw out one run games the Indians would be 2 and a half games up on the sox, so thatd be even more now.

Less than 30k for a Sunday game pitting your first-place team against a first-place team from the other division? And yesterday, I heard Farmer on the radio say that they drew 'just under 30,000, or 26,538' -- boy, he rounds up the numbers generously. I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

The whole weekend gate was atrocious.

I was there yesterday, typical no one in the upperdeck game. Even the 26K count is quite suspect. I stayed until the end, but Id say there were no more than 8K after the 6th inning.

Tickets sold. Not people there.

Yeah, but I think considering how beautiful it was out and that it was a weekend, I bet the vast majority of seats sold were filled. I guess 26K makes sense, I'd guess 15K for the first level, 15K for the upper deck, 10K for the outfield and 1K in the hanging boxes.
