OR MAYBE all fans are obnoxious to fans of rival teams. i read an a's website, and boy do they ever hate giants fans.

You're kidding. A's fans who hate Giants fans? I didn't know they existed! :o

(Ever A's fan I know has at least a bit of Giants fan in them [and vice versa]).

I agree, but I know a bunch of Dodger fans that absolutely loath the Giants. But I guess that's a given.

Of course. But again, I don't know too many Dodgers fans who really hate Angels fans and vice versa. The most I have noticed is some Dodgers fans are offended that the Angels are now an "LA" team and not "Anaheim." The animosity and intensity of inter-city rivalries like the White Sox-Cubs and Mets-Yankees are pretty foreign in the two big metro areas of California.

Grinder Baseball Rule #78:

When choking away a 15 game lead, hang your hat on the fact that Scott Podsednik is the most overrated player in baseball.

Solid game between the Sox and Twins, Garland has pitched well bnesides the mistake to Jones. He's gone more to the 4 seamer than I've seen in the past and used his sinker as a strikeout pitch on LeCroy and Stewert.

Baker has been solid as well, using all 9 sectors of the strike zone effectively. Hasn't used much of a breaking pitch and his change and been ok but well-timed.

Grinder Baseball Rule #195

When doing commercials to get people into the hell-hole that is the Cell, frequently repeat "the best record in baseball" and emphasize the things that the Cell has going for it. A magic trick as the "Guch" makes the ball disappear between his legs, there is more to baseball than food - for instance food, and remember the best seat in the house is on the north side.

Does the Dusty Baker Book Club have a book review on the Indians yet. Because they should. Once that gets published and they review it, the tribe will instantly suck.

Foreward- Al Campanis old quotes and taped discussions

Chapter 1-Sizemore, Peralta

Chaper 2-Crisp, Martinez, and Hafner

Chapter 3-Rewrite on Cliff Lee

you guys are mean

i went to a sox-a's game over the summer and everyone was really nice (except for one dude, but me and my sister WERE fully dressed in a's gear at a game in which the a's came from behind and won in extra innings). i dont think i really hate the sox or their fans much at all.

I think you really have to live in the Chicago area to understand the true obnoxiousness that is the average Sox fan.

you're probably right, and maybe my hometown is an outlier or something, but i don't think many people from chicago understand the true obnoxiousness that is the average Cardinal fan.

OR MAYBE all fans are obnoxious to fans of rival teams. i read an a's website, and boy do they ever hate giants fans.

I think we do. A lot of us Cubs fans from Chicago went to colleges downstate and were subjected to the "World's greatest fans."

Hating obnoxious Red Birds fans is different than hating insecure, bitter Sox fans - but equally justifiable.

Totally agree. I never really hated the Cardinals or their fans when I was growing up. I developed a dislike for them because I felt I was supposed to because they were a rival. I've always hated the White Sox. When I went away to college in Peoria and was exposed to Cardinal Nation for the first time, I then understood the anger and frustration that many downstate Cub fans have to deal with on a daily basis.

The one positive about living with Sox fans is they have nothing to brag about either, whereas Cardinal fans always have good teams that kill the Cubs. The Sox have absolutely nothing to brag about.

Walk, Strikeout, Single.

Guys on 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Why does Wickman always have to make it exciting? :-(

[edit] Groundout to 1st. Guys on 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs.

[edit2] Strikes him out. Phew.

I love Wickman, but he scares me. 43rd save. :D

How "Cub-Like." I was done with baseball about a month ago. Suddenly Im interested again. Thanks White Sox.

Im sure its our fault (and the medias, and the umpires, and everyone elses) but thanks nevertheless.

My DSL was on the fritz earlier - no service at all - but I just stopped by to update the thread title and I see that someone has already beaten me to it. Hmmmm....., anyhoo, I'm glad to see that the Sox are complying with my wishes and choking appropriately. :D

If this choke job continues, it will easily dwarf any other choke job I can think of off-hand...., including the Cardinal choke-job last season.

I feel like we are all watching an accident on the expressway, in slow motion. Don't want to look, but you can't turn away either.
