What? A sac bunt? I didn't think that was allowed.

Down 4-0 in the 3rd. I, for one, think a sac bunt is dumb right there. There are precious few outs and this isn't a killer lineup. Not to mention Vargas is having some control issues.

can i just say that i am so pleased that we took hill out of the rotation for rusch? it is such an improvement and why would we want to see what the kid had? i mean, we need to finish .500...right

I think we saw enough of Hill to know he wasn't ready and needed another pitch or two.

04/04 - 08/24 IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA
Rusch 106.7 126 54 50 43 87 10 1907 3.63 7.34 0.84 1.58 4.22
Hill 21.0 24 20 20 13 21 3 426 5.57 9.00 1.29 1.76 8.57

you must be very perceptive to know such things about hill based on 21 innings.

by the way, hill has had three dominating starts since he was sent down. rusch's three starts since then have been...um...not dominating.

Listening to the announcers keep talking about that fateful game/play/series... I just want to bleeping cry like a baby.

To come that close - up 3, five outs to go, Prior relatively cruising up to that point - and to blow it so hard and to lose the series overall... just 1 game from the WS...... *sniffles*

which is why I'll never forgive Alex Gonzales.

Why is Steve Phillips an announcer again?

You know this answer. Quite possibly one of the worst GM's of all time.

Well Stoney took some shots at him for trading for Burnitz and then Burnitz sucking butt in New York

great ab, barrett.

thru three innings against a wild rookie making his first career start at wrigley, and the cubs have already swung at two 3-0 pitches. nice.

BOTTOM OF THE THIRD INNING

Rusch doubled off the wall in left center field

Hairston sacrificed to the pitcher, 1-3, Rusch to third

Lawton walked

Lee walked, Lawton to second

Barrett popped out to second base (infield fly rule called)

Garciaparra popped out (foul) to the catcher

0 runs, 1 hits, 0 errors, 3 men left on base

Florida 2 0 2 4 4 0
CUBS 0 0 0 0 2 0

Does Nomar DO ANYTHING GOOD at all anymore?????

(sorry, but this Cubs offense - if you want to call it that - is beyond bleeping pathetically ridiculous anymore)

If I ever meet that man face to face.......

And the Cubs, for the 1,426,885th time this season, fail to score with the bases jammed and less than 2 out.

Does STATS, Inc. have a stat for # of times in a season that a batter pops up a ball in the clutch? Aramis, Barrett and Nomar seem to excel at that.

Wow, Barrett is less than stellar this season...what did PECOTA predict for him?

What are you talking about. He is the 2nd best offensive catcher in the majors

Mhuber, I think you can stop encouraging all of us to believe. There's nothing left to believe in this season. Edited by otis89

3-0 to Lee and he's swinging. I understand he's your best hitter, and the AB ended in a walk anyway, but there's no way he should have been swinging in my book.

I'm sitting in an office building where the floor above me is being renovated and I could barely hear the pounding hammers over the boos coming through my Gameday Audio. Wow.
