Well, we get Cedeno at short but the tradeoff is that we get Neifi at second today.

I'd like to see William Ligue and the guy who jumped Randy Myers tag-team Baker right now.

Why does Dusty insist on sitting Walker against lefties?! He's killed lefties this year!! ](*,)

that is a really surprising lineup.

baker is essentially saying he'd rather have nomar play out of position AND play cedeno than have nomar at his normal spot and macias at third. a pretty strong cedeno > macias statement, actually.

A surprising lineup to be sure, but I'm not certain that it's fair to characterize a lineup for one game as making a statement. Now, if we should see this lineup for any extended period of time..... that would be making a statement.

Fred, can you give us Nomar's career numbers at 3B? ;)

I can. Here you go.

Did you like them? He hasn't played a single game at 3rd his entire career.

wow, that is an interesting lineup.

ridiculous that neifi is playing, though.

hopefully nomar can handle 3rd.

Nomar says he's only played 3B in high school. He should be fine, you don't need as much range to play third.

Well, once again, Dusty surprises me. At elast he's getting mildly creative with Aramis out. I still question benching Walker for neifi. It smacks of Baker's insistance to play neifi every day no matter what. The best lineup, IMO, would be this one with Walker in place of neifi. Damn the lefty-lefty thing.

Still, if you accept that Walker will get rest vs. many lefties, this isn't a bad lineup. Don't know about the order, but it's probably the right personell given the situation.

Is Barrett really a cleanup hitter though?

Maybe he ought to be ??

Team record by cleanup hitter

                        W L pct
1. Ramirez 29 37 0.439
2. Lee 3 5 0.375
3. Burnitz 27 23 0.540
4. Dubois 1 1 0.500
5. Barrett 1 0 1.000

Totals 61 66 0.480

I'd prefer Walker's bat over Neifi even against a lefty. However, Neifi is a much better defender. Dusty tends to overemphasize defense & people on this board tend to underemphasize it. Just an observation!

3 SS in the starting lineup  .

Go Cubs, based on...well...the surprise factor! That's it!

But hey, they do have a secondbaseman in as well...

...of course he's playing centerfield.

The leadoff batter of a smart Baseball team would definitely try to push a bunt along 3B against the Cubs today.

That didn't take long for the Marlins to try. You really called that one.

Considering the batter was Juan Pierre, that's hardly a psychic revelation, no?
