Yeah. Lets shut Wood down.

ALRIGHT NEIFI!! :o

um...we still dont have a chance at the wildcard, so his success as a reliever really isnt that important right now. His health for next year is important however.

I don't like playing the injury card, but I'll say this again: this series would be a whole lot interesting with Rolen, Walker, Sanders and Molina.

that argument is void.

macias and neifi hit 1-2 yesterday. neifi started today. you can't argue that that isn't the same as having injuries, heh.

gee, it didnt seem to matter last year to cards fans that the cubs didnt have prior wood ect.

I withdraw my original complaint!

Can you say "overmatched"?

Yeah, exactly.

And now you see why everything we touch does not "turn to gold."

Rodriguez was hot for a week...week and a half. Then Major League pitching caught up to him. He cannot hit breaking balls low and inside...you saw Kerry acknowledge that and proceed to own him.

You guys had injuries last year, too, though.

I just don't know why Tony left Marquis in there...

Go moan on a Cardinal board. You're probably just here to taunt us anyway.

Can someone, anyone, please, for the love of god, fix the man's arm/shoulder. I want him being our 3rd starter next year. Please.

I say Kerry gets one more chance to start next year, but we start the season with 5 other bona fide starters. If he stays healthy, we trade someone come July. If the shoulder/mechanics get wonky again, we see if he can become the next John Smoltz. As Smoltzie has shown, you CAN do the starter role again after being in the pen for a long time.

EDIT: Wow I sure did use "start" a lot in that first sentence!

Did you even read my post?

Jeez, seriously. A Cardinals fan I am and I'm not even trolling. Read everything I write before you try talk.

I couldnt agree more. Next year he starts, and if his mechanics arent changed/ his shoulder acts up, THEN you put him in the pen. However, without him as a successful and healthy starter, I dont see this team going anywhere next year.

Carlos still dominated the Cardinals before they went gimpy in April!

I'm fine with our scrub replacements so far. If they can limp along another couple of weeks until Sanders and Molina get back, I can't complain.

One of the more pleasant surprises this season has been the offensive development of Michael Barrett. He's nearly matched his walk output from the entirety of last year, and this from a guy who got off to a rough start in April and only drew only 10 walks in the first three months of the season. It's like he made a concentated effort to be more patient at the plate. I doubt this came at the behest of Dusty or the coaching staff.

I don't know if I can put up with the Diaz/Mahoney platoon anymore. They're batting like .180 combined...

IMHO that was uncalled for. PieOnMyHands has been very civil at least in this game thread (I have not crossed paths with him/her before I don't think).

Pie, forgive some of our more...pointed...posters. I'm sure you understand their frustration/anxiety.

Yep, the end of this lost season is far more important than the rest of Wood's career.

especially if he's throwing "wicked sliders". That's gotta be good for the shoulder.
