Good morning, all. The Cardinals should do all right this series--coming off a sweep of Milwaukee without their two best pitchers, and I think the matchups in this series are favorable. And the Cubs, it has to be said, appear to be quitting on Baker. We'll see if they can get up for St. Louis.

Before I saw the lineup I had the all too familiar feeling that the Cubs would make a strong showing against the Cards just to give me the false hope that they could put together a strong run, whether or not they made playoffs. After seeing the lineup I know that won't happen now.

Well, Baker quit on them a long time ago.

I'll be watching today just to get the comical enjoyment out of seeing just how bad it can get for these losers.

I still wish the lineup was more like this;

CF Rusch

SS Maddux (sac-bunt specialist)

1B Wood

3B Prior

RF Ohman

LF Batboy

2B Dempster

C Zambrano (so he can yap at the Cards' hitters)

P Macias (Mr Do-It-All!)

well, i cant find an official lineup on line, so maybe its not decided yet. *crosses fingers*

hell, why i am still concerned about this team? just win saturday.

You know what is (not) funny? Everytime we make fun of Neifi and Macias, they are nails, and Dusty gets to play them more. Ugh.

I am predicting Murton's first HR today btw, in a 11-3 loss.

The Cards guys had Bruce Levine on FSN think and he said its the players fault we stink and Dusty has done a fine job considering the injuries and such.

I predict a four game sweep for the Cubs against the Cards. Only to be followed by another 7 game losing streak.

Yeah injuries may have helped us stink, but to say Dusty has done a fine job with his great lineups, his great double switches and great handling of the bullpen. Big BS!!

exactly why did we pick up lawton? i'm sure he hit against lefties in pittsburgh...

isn't amazing how many guys make it to the majors but the can't hit against a guy who throws the same hand as they bat....

What a farce. Barnum and Bailey Cubs. Please somebody do us all a favor and fire this worthless manager. I;m pleading to anybody that can do it!! I can't take these lineups anymore!

i have decided that this is move to keep maddux from his option. obviously they will have to pinch for him in the 4th thus keeping his innings down..

i would not be pleased if i am greg maddux, who has thrown well in 4 of 5 starts but got no help. then i look and see that perez and macias are in the lineup for me.

We picked him up to win the world series for us, dont you know? Waste of a prospect.

the cubs and the cardinals have the same team BA. the cubs actually have more hits (1065-1052) than the cards. yet the cards have 82 more runs on the season. hmm...i wonder what the difference is?

i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the cubs are LAST (by a fairly large margin, actually) in walks. nothing at all.

Rusch will start on Monday. Yipee.

thank goodness. i'd hate to see hill get an extended look to see if he can take a rotation spot in '06. we need rusch out there since he's the cornerstone of the franchise...plus we'll be battling for fifth place in the central by then.

And that they don't move runners over, drive in RISP with less than 2 outs, runners from third with less than 2 outs, bunt well, run well, etc.

HAHA! The Cards intro on FSN has a Cubs blunder lowlight reel and Petty singing "Free Fallin'" Just sad. Normally, I would be mad at that, but I can only laugh now.
