man i despise the cardinals. i go to the university of missouri, so i have to hear all year long how great the cardinals are. well, as dan bernstein so eloquently put it, cardinal fans have a weird rapist passion for their team. i guess as long as the cubs are going to suck this year, might as well take the season series. GO CUBS!

Cards - 836,545,428,291,745,344,001

Cubs - -3

Macias will run backwards around the bases thus giving us negative runs.

THAT made me laugh

We have a couple NSBB members going to game so hopefully we will get to see them incite a riot....or at the very least, where a paper bag over their heads.

If the Cardinals sweep, Dusty's not going to make to the end of the month, imo.

A very tempting offer if you can guarantee the outcome. 8)

Seriously...if the Cubs get swept..at home...by the birds...that will make it 12 in a row and 10 under .500...Not only should dusty not make it to the end of the month, he shouldn't make it to the next road trip.

Nice to see we are pretty much lowering our expectations for this series to a minimum. That should make any type of success against the Cards feel so much better.

I think everyone should bring rotten tomatoes and chuck them at these losers...at least that way we'd see if there's any diamonds in the rough we should add to our rotation

Nah, not even the kid from Rookie Of The Year could save us now....

Yesterday right about 1:00, I got behind the wheel, pulled out on I-287, and set the old XM to CUBS' game. Ahhh.... leaving New Jersey and CUBS baseball, I mean, can it get any better than that ?????

I got all the way out to Bloomsbury, which is almost to the PA line.... and I needed to stop for some fuel & gatorade, so I pulled into a station there and the score of the game was 1-1. Can you imagine my dismay when I got back behind the wheel..... and saw that the score was now 8-1 ???

Go CUBS !!

Posted

This is a classic "throw out the records" series.

We'll see if the Cubs play for pride.

Tony never lets up against the Cubs, so I expect him to play the best lineup he can. I just hope we don't see any bean balls or brawls.

...actually I would like to see Eckstein go Kung Fu on Zambrano! :D

I hope it's a great series folks.

I'm rooting for a riot. I want the fans to pelt these worthless bums with rotten fruit and garbage.

Or at least dump a beer on Edmonds' head and make his mascara run.

it wouldn't happen to be bat day, would it?

and yes i love the cubs.....however there is a very fine line betwwen love and hate!

I've heard a nasty rumor the top of the order could loook like this

1. Macias rf

2. Perez, ss

I heard this as well. If it is truth, Dusty must be asking to get fired.

Unfortunately, that's what the SCORE is reporting. Nothing like going into a series with St. Louis on 8-game losing streak and having Macias and Neifi your big 1-2 punch at the top of the order.

That looks like Macias is at 2B. Good thinking Dusty, Walker's only 5 for his last 13, and 5 for his last 15 against LHP. Oh, and Walker had a day off 3 games ago.

Eckstien vs. Zambrano would be highly amusing, very short, and would likely result in a prolonged hospital (or morgue) stay.

As for the series, (I never thought I'd say this) I just want the Cards to completely destroy the Cubs. Finish us off so we can get Dusty and his entourage out of here and get to the business of competing for a division title in 2006.

It's sad and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope the Cards absolutely kill us this weekend. I'm talking 20-0 every game. Maybe then the Cubs will shut down Wood for the year, play the young kids to see what they've got, and maybe, just maybe fire Baker.

Actually, replace Burnitz with Nomar, move Macias to RF, and slide Perez to 2B, and that's the correct lineup. I misheard it.

It's still bad, though.

In related news, I just read a Baker quote in the Sun-Times in which he said that he has three more weeks before he thinks about whether the team is out of it or not.

I wonder what the weather is like in Dustyland.

Maybe Dusty saw what the Cards' lineup was against the Brewers yesterday and thought, "hey dude, if the Cards can with with a crappy lineup, why can't we? Dude?"
