Man this is just painful to watch. Getting swept by the Mets is just plain horrible. I need to stop watching, but can't. It's kind of like a wreck on the road that you really shouldn't stare at, but you can't look away. Or you know your not suppose to stare directly at the sun, but you still do.

Yeah, even when the Cubs had no talent and lost 90+, I would watch every minute of televised Cubs baseball I could. Why, I don't know. I guess I just love the team too much for my own good.

I think that's mine and most peoples problem on here. We do love the cubs to much to turn away. When they had no talent and lost 90+, it wasn't as painful to watch. Because of the expectations on how this team should be playing.

Okay, somebody tell me the full story please.

I know Z walked off. Just give me the facts we no with no opinion involved (i.e. he's a crybaby, he is awesome for doing it)

Anyone??

Z is a crybaby.

Still though, you don't know what happened.

Morgan and Miller just asked why Zambrano left.

You don't know what happened though.

Ok, this is the last time I'm going to mention this incident tonight. Miller and Morgan called it (Zambrano quitting) as it was happening in real time. Most people watching thought the same thing (go back and read the thread when it happened and you will see simultaneous posts about Z quitting). That happened before Morgan and Miller tried baiting Baker into telling them about what happened in the dugout.

I don't have cable. What happened?

Hard to tell. Z went to the clubhouse, and there appreared to be some confusion in the dugout. The Weurtz got up in the pen.

z walked into the dugout shaking his head. rothschild came up to him, but z did the finger across the throat thing and walked right past him to the clubhouse. rothschild followed him for a second with a confused look on his face before turning around.

when Z came off larry came over to talk to him, z shook his head, slit his throat and walked into the clubhouse, larry started to follow but z was obviously done. larry did look kinda perturbed but turned to baker to let him know z was done

As tough as it is to stomach, this is one of two things I hoped would happen about this time of the 2005 season. I hoped we'd either put it all together and really go on a tear to get into the playoffs on a high note and maybe have a chance, or......

tank to the bottom so Hendry and the organization have no choice but to make some extensive changes next season to their poorly organized team.

The one thing that would kill me as a Cubs fan would be to see us limp / back into / slip etc... into the wild card hunt and give the organization just enough leverage to tell the fans that the Cubs are "this" close to being WS winners and not do anything useful in the offseason.

As a real fan, I hate that it's going this way, but if we can't get our crap together and go on a run, I'd rather we end like this so maybe 2006 will look different for us all.

That's the same thing I said during the 8 game losing streak. The worst thing the Cubs could do would be to just hang around the WC race.

If they're not going to the postseason, the Cubs need to tank in prolific fashion to get some changes made.

This offense has done nothing meaningful since Game 2 of the most recent Reds' series nearly a month ago.

You can say that again.

07/20 - 08/06 AB R H 2b 3b HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
CUBS 587 59 147 32 3 15 230 56 47 88 0.250 0.307 0.392 0.699

Just a thought. Any coincidence that the same time period has been hotter than you know what.....and the Cubs are playing more day games than anyone else (through a very hot Summer)?

I know I'm reaching.....but.......We've tried everything else for 100 years. Build a new stadium! Too much bad Karma in Wrigley. It travels with the team.

Screw it. Lets see how badly the Cubs can get beat tonight.

If they want to play like clowns, then don't be upset when Cub fans treat their games like a Circus.

Ok, I have to say this is one of my favorite quotes of the season so far - sad but true and if nothing else, it made me laugh tonight.

Yeah, the lean years were easier to stomach. Having so much talent wasted through mismanagement is far more painful.

miller and morgan didn't call it. they weren't saying a single word as ESPN was showing Z going past Rothschild as they were going to commercial.

I can't blame it all on management, but you're 100% correct - things were alot easier when I had no expectations going into the season :-(

There's no way Murton should be in the majors. We should sign Marquis Grissom/

Is Ricky Henderson available?

Hey, I heard Jamie Moyer is available.

I believe he is playing in an Independant League, so yah, I'm sure he'd be willing to come play for us.

Oooo. The threat of speed at the top of the lineup!

That's an old, silly and completely irrelevant argument, as Baker's been doing stupid crap like discouraging patience and starting Macias since Day One.

So Murton doesn't hit the ball to the right side to advance the runner to third and he gets a free pass? Oh, yeah, he's a kid, so fundamentals don't matter for kids.
