Bears are 3 point road favorites against a falcons team that might be better than expected but has 2 wins vs a bad saints team and disjointed Packers. Yes, Chicago was awful against GB but that was without an NGL QB and hopefully they have one of those this week. Atlanta will probably come out pissed after their dumbass loss against Baltimore but the locals may not be particularly supportive if things go sideways and the dome should have a lot of Bears fans. Question remains whether or not that will be helpful when Chicago is on offense given their fans’ tendency to get distractedly loud at the wrong time.

If Caleb' back Roschon will be far more effective, he sucks and all, but, people are discounting the fact the Bears had no semblance of an NFL QB last Sunday.  Without a threat at QB it becomes a whole lot of a horsefeathers easier to defend everyone else.

My question is how to adjust to essentially being down a defender in the secondary?  Given Johnson cannot cover anyone I'd have to assume the Falcons are going to attempt the same things as the Packers.  Is a going to a zone an answer?  Somehow sending help Jaylon' way on passing downs?

I think the best bet on defense is to hope the Falcons get too cute seeing as they should comfortably be able to run all over and/or exploit the secondary downfield.

Maybe Kyler can come back and help the pass rush from the slot?

London isn’t a burner like Watson for what it’s worth, yet Penix is averaging 9.5 Y/A and Bijan Robinson plays running back for the Falcons. It’s really ugly on paper.

I think the best hope for the defense has very little to do with the defense: it’s playing with a lead. If Caleb and the offense can get off to a hot start, hold onto the ball for long stretches and put pressure on opposing teams to have to score often and with less and less time to do it, that’s when the defense will look its “best”. That’s what worked in the Philly and Jets games (though notably, it didn’t work at all against the Panthers)

Caleb going automatically boosts the offense, he doesn't or won't continually miss open receivers, people don't realize what a trip back to the cave man days was last Sunday.  It was the same old tried story vs. the Packers, Bears' incompetence at QB = Packers looking far better than they actually are and easily winning.

I just checked our remaining schedule and man, it has bummed me out. We're approaching the part of the season where we have a somewhat reasonable idea of how good everyone is and...well it's gonna be tough:

@ ATL

Patriots

@Seattle

Buccs

Bye

Saints

@DET

Jags

@Miami

@Buffalo

Packers

Lions

@MIN

Of those, only Miami and Tampa Bay are real slouches. Seattle, New England, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Minnesota (has to be admitted at this point) and Detroit are all contenders. Maybe Green Bay too after this past week and getting Parsons back. The Saints are feisty.

I'm not doom and glooming nothing, but we pretty much have to beat Atlanta and play REALLY good football against a bunch of really good teams down the stretch. Woof.

I hate schedule watching to be honest. The sands shift every week. Teams ebb and flow. Rosters show up with players in various states of health. Player by player matchups matter. Etc etc.

It’s really scary because the Bears just put up a stinker. If that stinker wasn’t a one-off then we’re probably in deep do-do

There's a really good chance it was a one-off due to QB ineptitude, the Packers appeared to be world beaters largely because Bagent made it easier.

Oh man, Caleb sounded verifiably pissed during his press conference today. I guess he was pretty upset about how things have been reported on since his injury (and I can understand that), though I don't really blame the Chicago media for it - more national and social media yapping.

Anyway, I hope he goes crazy and completely lights it up on Sunday.

This + being PO'ed Bagent was incapable of taking advantage of the many openings vs. the MFing Packers.  Hopefully, Caleb is one of those guys who plays better when he's angry.

It does not have to be admitted. They started off the season beating the Packers, which was a disaster game for GB if I recall correctly. Then was the embarrassing effort from the Bears. After that, Minny beat a winless TB team, then Miami, who are competing with Tennessee for worst team in the NFL and then New Orleans. I'd say Minnesota has just as easy a chance of being 5-5 after their next 5 games against the Colts, @ Detroit, Bills, @ GB and then San Francisco.

Yeah let’s see how they fare against that DET -> SF stretch. If they come out of that looking great I’ll say they’re good in spite of the lackluster offense. It’s possible. Defense-heavy teams can still be competitive. I just need to see more. They literally won against the Bears because Caleb’s hammy pulled at the most critical moment. He had beaten the defender and was heading downfield.

Oh i don't get me wrong, I think the Fraudkings are total Frauds, but they also Do this. They won 14 games with a negative point differential. They just get that Pixie Magic every couple years.

I don't think they are actually "Good" but they have built up a 2.5 game lead by Frauding their way to wins
