That's why that new slider thing he's throwing has interested me so much. And why I'm bummed he was in Knoxville away from Statcast data because I think that the new "slider" is an attempt at solving that issue. 

I'm really intrigued and excited about this new pitch, and absolutely setting myself up for disappointment, but I can't help it.

I'm not sure what to entirely make of it. It hasn't been getting amazing results yet. But my theory is that he isn't giving everything away, either. 

Like if I can see Statcast, MLB teams can and are. If I have TJStats, MLB teams have something better. So a bit of gamesmanship could be in order. 

I could also be insane.

The Tigers defeated the Guardians to move to 60-61, which in the AL is the 6 seed in the playoffs, just 2.5 games out of a bye in the playoffs.

Right, and they also didn't trade for Cabrera to be a reliever,  they got him to be a TOR type starter for them.

I think for 1 or two games,  he will start with limited pitches and be piggyback by Peterson

That might be the best bullpen going into October.  
 

Probably add Assad, Rea, and/ or Peterson in there too which will give them 2-3 guys who can give them 3+ innings , which is always needed at some point in a long postseason run to save the pen.

They should have 9 solid relievers

We'd be losing our horsefeathers if we had a +90 and were under 500. It's pretty much inconceivable.

Man it would be nice if Busch got hot here at the end of the season. He has been ok this year but definitely short of the promise he showed last year.

It's crazy. The underlying metrics were good, the division/league is wide open for the taking, and they were looking at Skubal/Mize/Valdez/Montero for their playoff rotation. 

(I may or may not have an over 85.5 bet on them, so especially frustrating)
