5.5 back with 49 to play. After this week, Brewers go on their west coast trip, 3 in San Diego, 4 against the Dodgers, while after this series and the blue jays game, we get @KC, @Nationals, home vs the stripped down Cardinals. Then, obviously, there's still 7 more head to heads.

Plenty of baseball.

Lol.. heres Woodford,  likely his last game before he's DFA 😅

Yeah, I don't think we'll see him again.  Thank you, Woodford.

I stand by my earlier statement that the Dodgers are not the inevitable WS Champs.

They might win it, but they can be beaten, and their failure to get a notable bat at the TDL might come back to haunt them.

I'm curious if Thornton getting into this game is a sign he's about to get booted off the roster.

Woodford it certainly was, but Thornton am not so sure.

Woodford gets booted for Zeferjahn, Assad gets booted for Gausman, not sure who's getting booted for Holmes. Next guy back in the bullpen boots Turd Ferg or Thornton.

Probably, Turd.  But, at the moment, I don't know if Gausman is better than Assad.  Please prove me wrong.😄

I know Assad has options but he's also a better pitcher than Thornton so I'd be fine cutting bait there. The arms situation isn't as dire as it used to be. There's also the option to cut Civale, he's been fine with us but obviously bad overall.

Would love to see the lead down to at least 3 before they play those 7 head to head in September

There's Antoine Kelly too, though swapping him out for Milner seems clear enough.

But yeah the Thornton/Ferguson thing is what I'm curious about.  Ferguson seems clearly better to me?  But Craig obviously likes Thornton and Ferguson's got a minor league option.

Between this take and the Tmac take you are on quite a roll today!

It would also be nice if the Brewers ever decided to have a normal Baseball losing streak that every other team has.

Did you check how Gausman and Assad pitched in the last 2 months?

And, I don't like T Mac.😁

I forgot about Kelly, are we carrying an extra bullpen guy right now? I didn't know Ferg had an option, so I'm guessing he goes over Thornton

Generally agreed. 6-6 in their last 12. Jones/Skenes/Ashcraft coming up the next three days. Will see Joe Ryan against Minnesota, will get both Yamamoto and Skubal in LA.

There's few enough games that this all requires us actually playing well too, obviously. .500 the rest of the year for Milwaukee, which is really optimistic, requires us going 30-19 (and coming back from the current 2-4 deficit in the head to head series). But there's a path there. We got a lot better today, they got a little better.

I agree with all that - I’m curious if they give Assad the boot - he’s been versatile for them. It’ll be interesting for sure to see the shuffle that’s gonna happen

Boog will do two things every day.

Any excuse to get T-Mac on the screen. References JD’s 9 years in the majors, which is below the standard 10 years needed for the ML pension.

If JD has 9 years of service he gets 29k less per year - 10 years is just the max amount

It’s Hard to believe that this team is currently only 1 game worse than the 65-48 2025 Cubs at the 113 game mark with sub replacement level pitching for 2 months.

Suzuki is having a really solid year. He’s basically canceling out Happ’s disastrous last 2 months.

Gausman has a 2.41 FIP over his last 5 starts.
