Nico IMHO played through what seemed (emphasize seemed) a worse hand injury that the pinky thing for Tuck.

A couple things here:

1. At the risk of stating the obvious, no two injuries are the same and no two swings are the same.

2. Nico had wRCs of 80 and 81 in June and July of 2024 after getting hit with a pitch on June 8th (if that's what you're talking about), so, while you can call it admirable, it's more debatable on how helpful it was to the team.

Tucker was tough because he was clearly a very talented hitter and while he had the personality of a block of wood, he wasn't unlikeable in the way that, say, Matt Shaw is unlikeable. The emotional guys tend to be more fun in aggregate, but I also remember the earlier versions of PCA getting a ton of criticism for his helmet slams. Similarly, Bregman got a bunch of crap for not running out what should have been a routine ground ball, but now that he's turning the corner and vibes are high we're attributing 'great teammate' to him. Ultimately, it all comes down to performance, and Tucker 1. had the misfortune of playing well early in the season, 2. struggled a lot in the second half (and people hated this team during this stretch), and 3. didn't do anything in the playoffs. And then people are going to boo anyone going to the Dodgers and/or making a bunch of money, but those people are dumb.

I did feel like I qualified that with a "seemed" your points are well taken.  Lots of little things added up for me and my opinion though, not just that.  But as much as we want to think we really know these guys and who they are - we really don't.
