It was pure smoke and mirrors early on but the last month or so I think he's actually looked okay.  Given the injury he's coming back from I'm hoping he keeps trending up as he continues to get stronger and knock off rust.

I'm fine if he wants to pull a Chris Flexen; be useful when the team needed a body until, one day, he just couldn't keep it up any more. Really they need like, 7-8 more good results-appearances before a blow out or two would make him a DFA candidate come the deadline. 

All of this assuming he doesn't keep getting better, obviously.

Don't put Chris Flexen on the poor guy. I know he's not good but Flexen had a 86 stuff+ last year compared to Thornton's 96.

Call me crazy, but I started missing Maton, not for good pitching, but extra tensions that he usually creates in games.

I'm sick of each season having that one bad streak that just basically hands the division to the Brewers. This team is really good even with another Hoyer-special piecemeal pitching staff.

The Cardinals pissed me off over the weekend so I’m not as annoyed as I should be. horsefeathers both of them. I’m hoping the Tigers stay hot so Skubal isn’t shipped to an NL team.

Happs wRC+ is down to 109. He’s due for another heater.

In addition to the obvious need of SP, I hope the Cubs acquire a high end reliever at the deadline.  Between Palencia, Webb, Ferguson, Milner, a new guy that can bring some velocity, and maybe even Steele, this pen can round into shape in the 2nd half.

Hasn't hit a high fastball since his homer off Patrick and god knows when the last time he did any damage to a curve. Hes an easy-out right now.

My perception from all his at bats of late is he's chasing the ball down in the zone he used to take all the time and missing it or fouling it off.  He's typically a high walk guy but because of this it seems to me, it's affecting everything else.

If they don't end up needing Wiggins to start it could be him.
