The Cubs gotta win some of these games if they're going to claw back into the division race.

Just curious, if this was your pitching staff (healthy obviously) where would you place it amongst MLB pitching staffs? Β fringe top 10? Β Obviously some of this would never be a reality, like Ben Brown probably doesn't get a shot to start unless 2-3 guys were out, Shelby Miller was signed knowing he was hurt, etc. but still

Well, that pitching matchup is about as depressing as it gets.

If it makes you feel better Peterson is a big ground ball pitcher and the Brewers are dead last in fly ball rate.Β

I don’t think top 10, metric wise. More like 13-17 for me. This is assuming a staff of Horton, Boyd, Cabrera, Taillon and Imanaga. With Rea and Brown as middle relief and Palencia closing. Fill in the other spots with who they have. I think underlying numbers would show them 13-17, but with the Cubs defense they would probably be top 10 in run prevention. Even assuming some stints on the IL by guys, but nothing like this, the staff would be decent. And instead of 44-38 right now I could easily see 50-32. There is nk way around it. Injuries to the staff have hurt the Cubs greatly. Coming in they had a very good team who should have won 90+ games IMO.Β
