I would agree with this.  Boog it seems to me is always trying to prove he's the smartest man in the booth, but JD seems to have no ego so when Boog does that to him he'll say he doesn't know or make a self depricating joke or some other thing that diffuses Boog so Boog's attempts fall harmlessly away....I would agree JD tolerates Boog.  I think he's trying this year to engage Cohen more but it's still rough

Sut really wants Boog to like him and he hates him and that's awkward

Boog and JD are both really good at their jobs but don't complement each other super well and that's only slightly awkward so they win

I've also noticed that JD doesn't seem interested in talking music with Boog even though it's like the same genre (indie alt type stuff) that he and Len would nerd out on and that's pretty horsefeathers hilarious to me

And visa-versa.....they could not stand each other and it was so obvious to everyone watching.  I could never believe they kept pairing them together.

Yeah Boog has smartest man in the room syndrome.  Why he and Girardi didn't get along.   "You were a player and manager but you're wrong about A, B, and C".  You can't challenge and call out your broadcast partner live on air.

I think Cohen tries to engage with JD with the jokes and whatnot but Cohen isn't funny so JD can't respond so awkwardness fills the air.  I feel bad for Cohen, he tries really hard and is probably a nice guy.

In Boog's defense, Girardi thinks and says a lot of really dumb horsefeathers so it's hard to blame him for that.

I know man, I agree with Stratos above, I feel for Cohen, he seems like a nice dude but man does he come across awkwardly no matter who he's with.  I'm not sure that's fixable.  As someone else said I wonder if he was solo in the booth in Iowa and working with a partner just doesn't work.

I think JD has the type of patience I aspire to have.  The way he puts up with Boog day after day.  Ditto with T-Mac - she's been in her rights to tell Boog to go !@$#*&^% several times now, but decides to be a good sport instead.  It's easy to lose one's cool, a lot tougher to be the bigger person.  "it's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate, it takes strength to be gentle and kind".

This is my dream. I miss Len so much.
 

Nothing against Boog though. I have zero clue what gripe anyone has against him other than the fact he only calls like 80% of the games. He is a stellar PBP guy, and he’s about as good as it gets for a local broadcaster

Len is lame as hell for leaving the Cubs play-by-play gig to be the Sox radio guy.  That's like leaving a NASCAR job to become an Uber driver.

I enjoy Boog on the national broadcasts he does but not a fan of him doing Cub games. That kid in Oakland might a good one to try and lure away to replace Boog.

Only speaking for myself,  obviously, but I want a bit of a homer calling the plays for the local broadcasts.  Doesn't have to be Ron Santo level or anything.  You can hear J.D.s enthusiasm rising and falling with the Cubs performance.  Boog just wants to get back to East Coast Baseball, a.s.a.p., and it's painfully clear.  He's a good national guy but he doesn't give a damn about the Cubs.
