I don't know what to say anymore. Boyd and Cabrera is not going to do anything. This team is broken and nobody knows how to fix it. I rather watch Banana Ball than this crap.

Well, Boyd and Cabrera will do something (pitching.)  I'm not expecting they will get much better magically,  after the injuries, though.  I do agree, I don't know how to fix this team.  When SP's pitch well, the offense or the pun screws up.  It's just not working right.

Checks calendar and there is still over 2 months till the Bears. Crap.

The World Cup starts in a week. That will be 5 weeks of having the Cubs games on in the background. Bliss.

It won't matter what Boyd and Cabrera does if the offense remains in hibernation.

Happ has a NTC, Seiya is having his worst season and is a FA after the year. Kelly is an aging catcher, Shota gave up 2 HRs while I was typing this post, Boyd has been hurt multiple times this year. I mean sure if they can be traded for anything sure, but I highly doubt you get much for any of them.

Why Hoyer should be kicked to the curb..

245 mil payroll on a team that sinking faster then the Titanic,  has little to anything worth trading for any decent return,  and any decent prospects he has in Iowa will likely not be able to get a decent look the last 2 months because he cant move guys out so they can play.

This could end up being a lost season in more ways than one

I think it’s just a mediocre team. Jed was able to construct it from scratch and has proven this is the best he can do. I really think we need a new mind running the front office.

67 win pace outside the 20-3 stretch.

We were pretty much scratching our heads trying to figure out how they were winning most of those games, they certainly had us fooled

edit: Disregard, I lazily used Gemini and then realized it gave me false information.  Shocker

I really think this continuing will get Jed canned. Yes the Ricketts only really care about maximizing profit, but you still need a competitive team to that. Hoyer isn’t paid build 100 win World Series contenders, thats true, but he is paid to build 81-90ish win teams that can make the wildcard or atleast be in the running for the whole season. You need to be in the race and have hope to sell to max out profits. This team isn’t that, Ricketts can’t be cool with a team that sold contending all winter in reality contending only for the worst record in baseball at this rate.

Go get ‘em tomorrow, Cubs!

Cubs: “horsefeathers off! We won’t go and we certainly won’t get ‘em.”

I don’t think anyone in the organization is happy with this.  I’m flabbergasted right now.  I didn’t think this would happen at all.  The whiplash is the most extreme I can remember in my sports existence.  But here we are.

We knew this was going to be a tough stretch with Boyd and Cabrera out.  The bats really needed to hit to keep our heads above water until they were back.  The worst possible time for the bats to limp.

The pen let us down too today.  When Boyd/Cabrera are back the pen gets a bit better.  Rea likely moves to the pen and Rolison goes down

I reckon the players and coaches were getting it from all sides from the fans when they were collecting their horsefeathers and making their way into the clubhouse. There were more looks into the crowd then is typical at the end of the game and then Kevin Alcantara stopped and had a good listen.

I was there tonight.  The boos weren't deafening, but noticeable.

It’s time to admit that we hired the wrong guy from Milwaukee. Brewers General manager Matt Arnold has turned Milwaukee into perennial overachievers who defy projection models from a team previously under Davis Stearns that routinely overachieved and defied projection models.

Nothing for the guy currently wielding the power of Uecker's ghost?

Its hard to conceive of how a team that has been as atrocious as it has been for most of the season was that good for 3 weeks.

I blame Sox fan Pope Bob. It’s 2 on 1 versus the Ghost of the Sandberg.

They also replaced the irreplaceable Craig Counsell with two-time manager of the year aware winner Pat Murphy

People can hate Counsell all they want, I don't really care. But the amount of "Counsell SUCKS, DURRRR" on social media is exhausting. He managed this same mediocre roster to 90+ wins two years in a row. He's clearly not incompetent.

you're right, but they only won 83 wins in 2024

It’s much deeper than Counsell versus Murphy. Milwaukees success can be traced back to Maddens final 2 seasons as Cubs manager, coached by none other than 1X manager of the year and 3X runner up Craig Counsell. Murphy isn’t some 6 war manager, regardless of your thoughts on Counsell.
