I think he needs to be in Iowa to get more stretched out and additionally get some confidence back.  I'm not sure if he'll ever be any good, but he kind of got a raw deal getting rushed up because of the Cabrera injury before he really got to a full starter pitch count.

Next time they need to bring Wicks up, it should be as a reliever.

Maybe he can eventually give them the 2-3 innings or once thru order, out of the pen like Brown was doing.

I agree with this. But I think long term he is still considered a starting pitcher by the Cubs. I understand Bertz wanting him to stay up and pitch like they used Brown last year. I am also not a Rolison fan. But I am fine with the Cubs sending Wicks down to start ever 5th day. I would have also been ok with them keeping him up to take Rolison’s spot. It’s temporary anyway with Cabrera coming back. If Ferguson stays up Rolison might be gone then.

If Rolison was offensively bad they probably would have kept Wicks up, but his stuff+ this year is 99 and his xFIP is 4.27, completely inoffensive as a 3rd lefty in the pen.

He is fine. But as Boyd and Cabrera come back he might be shipped out. It will be 2 of him, Ferguson or Thornton once the Cubs get a few starters back. The only other option they have is to dfa Taillon. And I don’t expect that to happen.
