This team is just not good. They're a mediocre team that is going to sit somewhere around 80-85 wins.

I said something around 75-80 to start the year.
Do they have promise? Of course they do. They showed that during those two 10 game streaks they had; however, what I’ve been saying is they are either on fire or straight horsefeathers - no middle ground with them. That isn’t a sign of a healthy team. Yes, baseball is about ebb and flow - but between the pitching (SP&pen), and their bats being this hot or cold, I don’t see them winning the division that’s for sure. I really hope they can turn it around - this is brutal

But, Shota pitches better with Amaya.

I mean, maybe give Ramirez/Alcantara more than 2 PAs in the cumulative 3 games they've been up?

If he really wanted to shake it up, he plays Alcantara,  Ramirez, and Conforto tomorrow.

Benching Happ for Conforto wasn't much of a shakeup to the lineup.

AAA players aren't saving this team

Who said they would ?

They brought them up, Counsell mentioned shaking up the lineup, then shake it up and play them.

So putting inferior players in for the sake of "shaking things up" accomplishes what, exactly?

Wont be any worse than the superior players are accomplishing

Conforto has been the best hitter on this team and it feels like he's not playing enough.

Ballesteros is the only young prospect on this team with legitimate upside as a hitter and he's not playing enough.

Instead we watch the overpaid underperforming vets sucking the oxygen out of this team.  Not really sure what the solution is anymore tbh.  They've put all their eggs into this core.

We'll see..

Point is why bring them up if theyre not going to play, im not talking about starting every game for now on, but theyre here. Counsell the one who wanted to shake this up, then play them.

These two kids aren't Nicki lopez where you just sit them until whenever, they need AB, and if not with the Cubs then send them back to Iowa and bring up 2 other kids to sit on bench.

This offense needs a spark right now, play them for a couple games and see if they can provide some, or he can just continue with what hasn't worked for the last 2 weeks and stick with the same guys.

We've seen kids come up plenty of times and reignited an offense/pitching/teams over the years to get them rolling,  it wont hurt to see if one or both can do that for them now that theyre here.

They are mismanaging Ballesteros' development.  I mean this guy was your best player in April and now he plays once or twice a week.  Either send him down or find a way to get him into the lineup consistently.  Me personally, I'd rather see him behind the dish then Kelly.

I really don’t think this team ever wins any thing of consequence as long as Jed is here. Hes had plenty of money to spend, he just seems incapable of building a roster that’s beyond mediocrity.

I’ve barely watched any games this year. There’s nothing inspiring in this organization right now. They always start off hot and then get cold enough where it’s just a wash. I feel bad for the fans that still genuinely care. I used to be you and get annoyed after every loss. Feel nothing this year. It’s pretty awesome.

92 wins and 1 win from the NLCS. But incapable of building anything but mediocrity.

I know it sucks right now but can we chill

Well the multiple 10 game winning streaks were really cool, hopefully you caught those, and showed that, when they time everything right, they’re capable of being one of the best teams in baseball. This is a really ****** stretch and there are some very obvious holes in the roster, both self inflicted and injury driven, but better to this in may than in October.

since the beginning of last year they’re 121-93 (besides the .500 record in playoff games). Could be better, sure, could be a lot worse.

Yeah, we have enough of a sample size now to show that Jed just isn't good enough. Hes decent, he can build a competitive team, but hes never getting you over the top. Sad thing is he is here for another 3+ years.

I understand its only been 2 months but the Bregman signing looks like horsefeathers. $35 million a year needs to produce wayyyy more than this. Plus I didn't realize hes already 32.

Swanson and Bregman are making a combined $63 million a year. About a 1/4 of the entire payroll.

Yikes.

Jed has literally never even won a division. Hes in a huge market and has plenty of resources. And still can’t make a team that doesn’t rely on the wild card to get into the dance.

I really don’t think it’s dramatic to say he’s not the guy for the job at this point.

I mean, I passively kept an eye on the team.  But I had a feeling after the last couple of years they were gonna leave may slightly better than .500

I assume they’ll even out in June and make the playoffs via a wildcard. But I don’t see how they make it much further than that.

The Cubs haven’t had a lead since the White Sox hit their walk off HR last Sunday. In those 5 games, the Cubs have only finished an inning tied in 4 innings
