Harrison is another massive win for the Brewers. They are really good at pouncing on floundering prospects and unlocking them.

We're in big trouble.

Yeah, what a massive fleecing of the Red Sox. They knew the production they got out of Durbin was a total fluke and Breslow bought it. He's got a .492 OPS.

Nothing like watching a fanbase slowly implode during a losing streak. Suddenly the team that was 27-12 2 weeks ago has 26 terrible players who are complacent and don’t have a winning mentality.  I’m not saying we shouldn’t have any concern but it’s just interesting to watch segments of the fanbase completely turn on everyone after a bad 11 game stretch.

Also got Drohan out of the deal, who has yet to allow a HR in 21 innings and carries a 2 FIP, with a K% not really close to what he consistently produced in the minors. Looks like an amazing trade. Each with a ton of control left and minimum salaries.

Meanwhile, Hoyer was laser-focused on Cabrera, who possibly sucks, and is already in arbitration years.

Yep. Team built to win 90+ games hits the 50 game mark at a 94 win pace.

Brewers put up a 6 game losing streak and a 4 game losing streak in April, but those were different because Jed is (insert your favorite offensive insult that no reasonable adult uses anymore), especially compared to the Gods Amongsr Us in the Milwaukee front office.

Bench him

PCA looks like he could use a day off.  Luckily they have an off day tomorrow and don't have to travel.

Cubs played like little leaguers this series.  What a hot mess of a team right now.

Thankfully Cabrera only has a blister.  His 4-seam and sinker get hammered.  Hopefully they can make tweaks and he can figure it out.

Humiliating. 5 years into Jed’s rebuild and this is as close to the finishing touches on the team that he built as it gets. I really hope they got the suck out of their system and can go back to being watchable. Maybe give a Shaw a start in right field next time there’s a lefty on the mound, for no other reason then to not have him rot on the bench.

It’s may. We’re on a 94 win pace.

i don't think it';s about the losses as much as the way it's happening. bregman sucking, pca imploding, horton being gone, maton sucking,  cabrera being average, etc. it could all turn around quickly, but there are a lot of concerning trends for key players

I just refuse to believe that 11 games after a 20-3 stretch that there are legitimate concerns about the overall viability of the team. We need pitching, always have, to get to an elite level. But that hasn’t much changed over the entirety of the 29-21 stretch.

I have no answer at all why an offense that was clicking in most areas suddenly can’t get it done.  I guess the pitching downturn can at least partly be explained by regression to the mean.  But these bats should be producing and they just aren’t right now.

Bregman feels like a signing where it takes awhile to get comfortable in his new team and league.  I’m hoping that’s the case and he picks up soon. The rest though?  WTF.

I've accepted the fact that the Brewers are in the Cubs heads. It's up to the players to get rid of that fact.

Yeah. The way they piss down their legs as soon as they have a chance to make something happen at the plate is really something.

They need a series to get the monkey off their back a la bears v packers or eviscerating the cards in 2015. Hopefully it doesn't take 25 years

I know people hate this answer, but it's almost always "the reason is because baseball is 162 games and these things happen".

Shaw has had 104 PA in 50 games. So he is on pace for around 330-340 AB. He isn’t rotting on the bench.

Yeah theoretically there's no reason why a team can't rip off two ten game win streaks and then also win 5.86 (95 win pace divided by 162) of every 10 games besides that. But....there's not a lot of teams that have won 103 games in a season, so at some point you have to realize that's just, based on mountains and mountains of data, not how it works.

I was surprised that he's only had 24 PAs in May. That seems low after his start but....that's why he's the 10th man. The numbers in those 24 PAs are really bad (045/125/045), which I think is a combination of: BABIP, it being really hard to hit in limited opportunities, and him being a career 93 wRC, .301 wOBA/.301 xwOBA hitter. On the last point, obviously you shouldn't expect him to hit .045, but it justifies his current position as the odd man out because there are 9 guys on the roster (besides Conforto, whatever is going on there) that are better hitters than he is.

If they want to shake things up, put Busch back in the leadoff spot against RHP.  Literally no reason to still have Nico in that spot when he's produced a .<600 OPS since that Padres series.  Busch played well in that role last year, and he's been the best (and only good) hitter on this team over the last 2-3 weeks.

I don't really care about 'shaking things up' and don't really see any point in yanking people up and down over sample sizes of 2-3 weeks. That being said, the best hitters on your team, based on large sample sizes, are Busch, Suzuki, Bregman, and Happ, and they should get more PAs than anyone else (setting aside handedness concerns).

The bulk of his at bats came during Suzuki’s IL stint and about a week or so before Seiya moved out of the DH spot. He’s averaging about 1.5 PAs per game and won’t see 300 PAs at the current pace.

If he has a future in the organization then putting him lineup against left handed starting pitchers is probably in everyone’s best interest, especially if it means no Suzuki in right field.

Correct, but here's the thing: Suzuki isn't going to be the only injury the Cubs are going to suffer between today and the end of the year on the position player side. Shaw will take a decent amount of PA's, if not the bulk of the PA's (infield) when that happens. So sure, if no one gets hurt he will average 1.5 PA's or whatever, but we know that won't happen.
