I can't quite get used to a tiny sliver of the ball in the zone on the corner being called a strike.  Those pitches always look out of the zone.

Its pretty crazy how its often like the width of a stitch that catches the zone. Umps are better than I gave them credit for.

I cant believe Ty France stole a base on us. 4 career steals.

Does it make you feel any better that he now also has a triple? His 5th career triple.

Guess this will be their first loss due to bad ABS challenges,  by losing them early cost them in big moments later in game.

It contributed to the loss. It wasn’t the reason they lost. They didn’t get a hit after the 3rd inning. That is a problem. Padres made a lot of good plays. Cubs didn’t make any. Just not their night. It happens. Padres are a good team too.

Given the spot in the game, him making that challenge was absolutely selfish and absolutely makes him a moron. I would be livid if I was Brown or any of the fielders he screwed tonight.

Bad decision. 100 agree. Challenging a ball call and being wrong makes him a selfish moron, couldn’t disagree more. It was just a mistake. And if any teammate of Boyd’s would be livid with him because of his challenge, to me that makes that player the selfish player. I am sure no one on this team was livid with Boyd for his bad decision.

Why are they wasting bullets with Miller here

Really not sure. Thought maybe he had a light workload lately and needed to get some work in but he pitched 2 days ago and then 2 days before that

Our pitching staff needs to get it the horsefeathers together.

Jed and co need to get it the horsefeathers together with their development so we dont need to rely on Astros scraps and crafty veterans every single year in the pen. Maton and Webb have been abominable. Not fooling anyone.

Several missteps led to this loss.

The challenges were idiotic and short-sighted and cost us dearly. Craig managed with the urgency of a vegetable - Brown should have started the 5th and Busch should never face Morejon IMO. That was a pivotal moment and Craig should have seen that coming. Mo is a stud and might be a decent catcher but he was abysmal catching stealers in AAA and Ty France (really the bane of the Padres tonight) still has a finger left as he counts his career steals on his hand. With Kelly behind the dish that simply doesn't happen, and I bet he would have fared better against Morejon than Busch did.

Not that a 2 game losing streak is gushing but we had a chance to stop the bleeding and we flat blew it. Really a badly mismanaged game by a lot of members of the team.
