lmao horsefeathers off. 60 a year??????!!!!!!

I'd bet my life there are deferrals. But I'm sure the AAV is probably close to $50m or more.

Oh I'm sure there are. But that AAV is still insane. They're gonna be paying players when my grandkids have grandkids. But who cares when you can win the WS every year.

This is so stupid. Hard salary cap and either end deferrals or whatever contract you agree to, for cap purposes it’s paid out over the actual contract (so Tucker would be $60M per year).

So $60 million a year PLUS the luxury tax means the Dodgers are essentially paying about $120 million a year for him? Yes, there are probably deferrals that bring the amount down a LITTLE, but it will still be north of $100 million.  Remember when we thought the Cubs just signed a big contract?  The Dodgers just went out and committed about 3 times that amount per year.  We aren't even remotely fishing in the same waters.

Of course Dodger fans are calling Friedman the greatest GM of all time in any sport. Yeah, it’s easy to be called that when your owners spend like no other club has in MLB history. Theo Epstein shits all over him.

Seriously though, I'm not buying any of the "well, actually, a salary cap would be a bad thing" arguments anymore.  Combined with a salary floor, it is a necessity if MLB wants to be taken seriously.  The Dodgers are playing within the rules, but the rules need to be changed.

Do not forget the Dodgers also have the top farm system in baseball.

I simply want something that will hurt the Dodgers. Something that forces them to have to think about before making any kind of decision.

Going to come in at $57m AAV, easily the record. Sitting at $395m for luxury tax threshold purposes, which I think, rough math, is like a $170m tax, so even with all the deferrals you're still clearing $500m in checks written this year pretty easily.

The math was easy with Ohtani. I can't see people flocking to buy the jersey of the least charismatic dude in baseball quite the same way. But, they're way smarter than I am.

Well, horsefeathers. I forgot about that fact lol.

The real winner is Cody Bellinger. He now will likely to have Met/Yankees and maybe the Blue Jays (who I think they will more likely turn their attention to retaining Bichette) now in a bidding war.

Yeah I kinda wonder if Steve Cohen is so mad that he just blows past the Yankees' offer to get someone, anyone.

Both the Mets and Yankees are having brutal offseasons. Yankees missed out on everyone by holding a months-long staring contest with Bellinger.
