The Bears are 3 point underdogs in the penultimate regular season game of the year, one in which they could have already clinched the division before kickoff. SF is in a dogfight for their division, and will be motivated to win this one. These are two top ten offenses in terms of scoring and yards, and two mid-tier defenses. It has all the makings of a playoff preview, and should make for good TV.

The 9ers probably just arrived home a couple hours ago from Indy. Meanwhile, the Bears have been off since Saturday night.

Bears 31-30

The Niner's offense like nigh unto unstoppable last night.

They come at you from so many directions. The good news is their defense didn't look good at all. Rivers didn't have the arm strength to make some of the necessary throws to keep their offense on the field. Guys were plenty open, though.

However, the SF defense didn't let Jonathan Taylor have anything. Indy averaged less than 3 yards a carry. Caleb will need to throw and throw often. Indy looked like they had the offense to trade scores with them, but once they fell behind, it was pretty much over. They just couldn't stop the SF offensive explosiveness. I'm not sure the Bears defense can, either. Which is why they will need to be in the mindset of scoring a td on every drive.

I'm not picking the Bears to win this one. But I want more than anything to be proven wrong. Keep winning, dammit! I want some cold ass playoff games in Soldier Field in January.

We are hitting the 49ers at a time when they've gotten healthy and look to be clicking on all cylinders.  This one is going to be rough.  If the Bears can shut down the run maybe they can have an impact on the passing game.  Last night the Colts could not stop the run, and Purdy just killed them.

I think the defense will have to put in their best game, and the Bears need to put together long, clock-eating drives with our run game to keep the 49ers offense off the field.

Reporter: What have you guys had Rome doing for the past week?

Ben Johnson: Rehabbing.

Reporter: Is he on the bike? Is he running? What has he been able to do?

Johnson: We’ve been working through his rehab process. He’s right on track, he’s going to be in a good spot.

Reporter: What do you mean he’s going to be in a good spot?

Johnson: He’s going to be able to help us this year.

If they can get Burden back it'll mitigate the loss of Rome, Burden was really starting to come on, not to mention his willingness as a blocker.

Possibly my favorite Bears stat of the year:

In games this season where the Bears chances of winning have fallen below 20%, they are 6-4.

49'rs arent healthy. they are missing their top two wrs and Bosa and Warner, and Kittle has a bum ankle and is questionable. Bears will need to stop McCaffery

He was spared the ignominy of losing his final game at SF so of course the football gods made him play to win to put the Bears in.  It was the next best thing.

I feel like thats only the 1st stage of hell for him. what do they say, 7 stages of hell? 6 more to go?

This one feels like a loss tonight. It reminds me of the 2006 season after the Cardinals comeback. A huge, improbable, historic comeback in a game we shouldn’t have won - and the next week we lost badly to Miami. It just seems like a hangover loss - and the Niners looked totally unstoppable on offense on Monday night. Our defense just can’t stop anyone if we don’t get turnovers.

hopefully we do some fun things offensively but I’m expecting a loss and I’m totally ok with it. We’re in baby. It’s all gravy from here.

Counter point: The Niners aren't actually all that good this year, they just looked amazing against a team that has effectively given up and started a grandfather who hadn't played in 5 years, and yet the Niners defense somehow made him look decent.

3rd counter. After the AZ game in 06 they went on a bye then played SF at home. Led 41-0 at the half before winning 41-10. The Miami loss was the following week

Scoring points in 23 straight quarters (and counting) is pretty good.

Ah yes. The Curious Case of Brandon Aiyuk..... Probably shouldn't even bother putting his mug on a milk carton. I believe his days in SF are over.

I don’t know.  I’m not sure which 49ers we are going to get.  I understand they have injuries but even with the Colts in full retreat, what I saw was impressive.  McCaffrey  looked unstoppable and it was because there were huge holes for him to run through.  Purdy was on target with quick reads that don’t allow any kind of pass rush.

Hope I’m wrong.  I don’t see the Bears going to SF and beating them.  Assuming Kittle guts it out, I’ll take a TD off their avg points during their win streak. 27 - 24 49ers.  Close but no cigar.

We absolutely destroy the bummed out Lions in the final game.  34-10 Bears in that one.
