It’s Amazon week with the Bears playing in front of an international audience at the recently phlaundering Eagles. The natives are restless for the defending champs, and there’s a good chance Philly comes out blazing as touchdown favorites to quiet the doubters. I have to imagine the eagles offense will be explosive against the beaten down Bears defense. Despite some heroic efforts against a slew of mediocre teams, Chicago has surrendered the 6th most points per game this season, at 26.5. Philly is 8th best at just 20.5. Chicago does have a top ten scoring offense, again, against mediocre to bad competition for the most part. Philly is right in the middle at 23.2 PPG. They have been terribly inconsistent, scoring 30+ 3 times then going back to back with 10 and 16 points, in wins over NFC north teams. They score three first half touchdowns against Dallas before shutting down completely.

I think if Philly wants to they can win this one handily. But I don’t know what their major malfunction has been this season. Hopefully they don’t bounce back strong from a terrible division loss on short rest.

Am I correct that Jaylon has to come off IR this week otherwise he's lost for the season, but Kyler has 1 more week he can be on IR?  Doesn't mean Jaylon has to play, but it seems likely after practicing in full a couple times last week.

Who knows about the LBs (outside of Edmunds), but getting both of the DBs back to slow Brown and Smith would be great.  On the flip side, I have a feeling Barkley is going to feast on us.

I didn't watch the Dallas/Eagles game but I read Philly was up 21-0 and lost 24-21?  Yikes.

Both of these teams are 8-3 but the vibes couldn't be more different.  Hopefully we get some guys back from injury.

No, you're week off.  Jaylon's 21 day window started on Nov 14, so his window is open until Dec 5.  Kyler's started on the 19th, so he gets an extra 4 days...Dec 9th.  So they COULD both miss this game and still be good coming back against the Pack.

Ugh.  I mean absolutely make sure Jaylon is 100% before returning rather than rush him back in a game we're going to be decided underdogs, especially because last time he made it 3 quarters before hurting himself again.  But I'd also love to see the best possible defense we can put out there against the defending SB champs

Also, the Playoff Machine is active for this year now:

Gonna mess around with some scenarios today but its nice to be able to use it and not have to come up with convoluted scenarios like "Bears win out, Lions lose four games, Green Bay collapses into a giant sinkhole, and the Bears get the 7 seed"

Illinois/UConn basketball followed immediately by Bears/Eagles.  My post-Thanksgiving Friday is shot (and likely to be a disappointing sports day).

Same same.  I actually feel much more confident in the Bears taking care of business.

It's likely they both play this week from all reports, but...it's also likely that they are not playing a full game.  Easing them in.

Conversely, any team that has to count on the Bears taking a dump down the stretch have to like their chances

Like I said in the other thread, the Eagles haven't been a big "come out firing on all cylinders to avenge a loss" team. The team has some issues and some malcontented players, which won't be any better coming off a division loss and blown lead on a short week.

The Bears CAN win this game. I'm not going to say they will win this game, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me. I would put money on the Bears +7 if I was a betting man, as I think they keep it close at worst.

That being said, the Eagles are a MUCH tougher matchup to face with no LBs. Barkley's obviously a better runner than either Pittsburgh guy. He's also a really good receiver, and Hurts is a really good runner....all will put pressure on a practice squad LB group, who don't really have a whole lot of time to prepare for what they will see from the Eagles.

Of note, the Eagles safety position may look like the Bears LB position on Friday. They have 3 on the roster, both left midway thru yesterday, one left the stadium in a walking boot. They have a couple practice squad guys, and I'd imagine we may see at least 1 of them get a bunch of snaps this week. Also not likely to have Lane Johnson and are 13-26 all-time when he's been injured.

Yeah, I mean, the Eagles have lost to both the Giants and the Cowboys.  They're definitely not some unbeatable juggernaut.

I think the thing I like most about Ben Johnson this year is the Monday press conferences, after he's had a chance to look at the game tape. Level of expertise and understanding I haven't seen in a Bears coach since....?

Weird, but I know no other way

Bears win 34-31 on a last second field goal, just as the season has gone

This is a game where I really just want to see the Bears play up to their opponents, and look good out there. Worst case scenario is a repeat of the Lions game where a very talented, proven team lets out its frustrations on us. And with how depleted our defense is, it’s not unthinkable.

a win would be awesome. It would definitely stamp the Bears as a serious, non-fraudulent team. But I’ll take looking good, even in a loss.

the Bears are a 8-3 team with a rookie HC, seasoned DC, #1 pick QB and a HUGE following....and the charter franchise. I dont think we need to apologize anymore, the NFL wants the Bears to be good and if we aren't, we are definitely on our way

Was it Blankenship in the walking boot? I'm guessing so, because the other safety got hurt pretty late in that game. Not sure what his status is, but I think Adoree Jackson will be out also. He konked his head and will likley be in concussion protocol on a short week. Also, Ojoro (Phily sack leader) exited with a wrist injury, but did return, but not sure how much he played after the injury.

I just finished watching the Eagles/Cowboys game. The Cowboys RB's slashed their defense. I'd put the Bears running attack ahead of Dallas' when you include the OLine's outstanding run blocking. Dak beat them deep and did well with the TE's on the shorter stuff. Cooler temps this Friday. I'm hoping we get some guys back this week to close the gap on that spread.

No, was Andrew Mukuba. He needs surgery for a fractured ankle and will be out for the (regular) season. Just announced a bit ago. Blankenship has a thigh/quad injury. Unsure of his status, but him not coming back in a division game that was slipping away from them doesn't bode well to play in 4 days.

The way Blankenship was behaving on the sideline didn't appear as someone who would be ready to play again on Friday. So that's possibly 3 starters from their backfield on D that could be missing.

Green Bay has at least two non-Bears losses in their remaining six. Lions probably only have one. I'm not going to make a guess on the Bears. I want to believe, but I can't.

To me, the Bears are playing with house money, no expected them win 8 of 11.  The most important things are happening - Ben is a legit HC, Caleb and the offense are improving - the winning now is a bonus.  Off season will be mainly spent on improving the defense, something that is far easier to fix than getting you HC and QB correct.  We've seen no where near the best from Caleb, that's coming in 2026.
