Well this was pretty much predictable..

Boyd was shaky as it was since September and needing rest, but hey let start him with 3 days rest against the Brewers on the road.

He got all of 2 outs, but at least he'll be available and rested for Game 4 if they get there 😒

I guarantee no other manager that in the postseason now would of started Boyd today and would of taken advantage of getting him and Imanaga those extra days off. Today should of been the day to go with a Rea, Assad, and or Soroka combo to get 6 innings.   Counsell screwed this one up and better hope Imanaga with just 4 days rest can get it done Monday

We knew it was going to be bad with Boyd on short rest. It sucks, but this game isn’t over.

LOFL...you are literally correct but figuratively? It's over bro. Soroka is almost as bad as Boyd. HEY.....the inning is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does hitting come so easy for this bum ass team?

Gotta love rhetorical questions. Effers are GOOD which is why they left us in the dust in the divisional race.

horsefeathers disaster. Leave Soroka in for 6+, this one is over

Jed and Craig horsefeathers down their legs

This is not Jed’s fault. This is mostly on Counsell and the rest on Boyd.

We all knew Boyd was too good to be true.

Nah, he was incredible at Wrigley and we wouldn't have made the playoffs without him. But starting him today (on the road, short rest, against a team he sucks against) was monumentally stupid

This is why you get quality SPs at the deadline. This is on Jed more than Craig or Boyd.

Didn’t the Cubs have the best rotation in baseball post All-Star game? Horton goes down and a bad decision by Counsell is the reason for this.

Hey our 220m payroll could have afforded another TORP in the offseason too.  Colin Rea is ok but man....

Those last 2 hits weren’t even on bad pitches. It’s like they have the pitch com bugged with a Bluetooth headset in their helmets.

Some of you guys are just full of pathetic excuses. They are good and proved it this season. Just be a man and admit it. You sound like a kid with comments like that. Give credit where credit is due. Even Shildt did that after his team gagged against the Cubs. He admitted Dansby was the MVP. Manned up about it....you should try it

You’re correct. Without his first half performance we’d have less wins.

That wasn’t younger and cheek enough?

Boyd is good, but he's not "start on 3 days rest" good.  The Cubs could have started Rea and then had their rested rotation lined up for the rest of the series.  Even losing game 1, they would have been in decent shape going forward.  Now they are going to lose Game 1 and they put themselves in a less than ideal position pitching-wise.  Starting Boyd was a mistake, and an avoidable one.
