Love wasting Cam Smith. Season is ending dreadfully. This team is not winning a playoff series. Tucker is walking. Back to square one. At least Jed is locked in and PTR has his money and his boy in the WH.

Blew a great opportunity to have a big road trip and gain ground on the Brewers after sweeping the Angels.

Never seen a playoff bound team just look so lifeless for so long.

They're so lucky the Reds, Giants, and Dbacks are too far behind to catch them with just 27 games left.

This team outperformed themselves the first half of the season. Period. The way they’re playing now is who they truly are in my opinion. IF they make the playoffs, they’ll be like the Dallas Cowboys- one and done anyway.

I'm surrounded by Tigers fans here in West MI and they're going through it too....just got swept by the A's. OTOH, I did read the A's have the 2nd best record in the AL after the all star break. Only Toronto has been better... Shame of it all is how winnable the world series is this year. There is no dominant team obviously. Whomever gets hot will take it all.

I, too, rather the Cubs play their way into the playoffs and not back door their way in.

I'm going to be greedy and say anything less then a sweep of the Rockies will be a disappointed. But I am prepared for disappointment.

4 runs or less in 16 of 18 games

Honestly this is shocking and more than that it’s shocking they’ve remained .500ish during that time

Well the way they’ve played lately is literally the worst offense in the league, and I don’t think that’s what they are

Neither the Cubs or Brewers going anywhere come playoff time. The Brewers peaked to early and the Cubs are what we see. Both teams are out 1st series assuming they don’t play each other.

Lol come on you cannot tell me Happ has done anything this season to be hitting 3rd. He’s been bad all season long. Got incredibly lucky in that first inning with a weak seeing-eye ground ball.

Ian Happ has had career norm batted ball data since June 1st and has a 110 wRC+ since the ASB. I won't engage in a lineup discussion, frankly, the order is my least favorite aspect to debate; plenty of data out there shows that your lineup construction matters almost none. But the consistent Ian Happ whinging gets old when we have plenty of data to suggest he isn't nearly as bad as people act.

There is plenty to be frustrated with, yours probably isn't within the top-20 currently.

You're not exaggerating.  Cubs are tied for worst in baseball for fewest runs scored since the ASB.

The odds of going from one of the top 3 or so offenses in the 1st half to the worst is so unbelievably low.

Almost every hitter on this team sucks right now.  Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic won't do much.

Not really low odds. The truth is somewhere in the middle  Early in the season they played way above their heads now way below.  They are an above average team that will get a WC and that's all the Faccist supporting Ricketts family wants

Only thing I’d contest is keeping Busch in the leadoff spot. He’s second on the team in home runs since the all star break and 5 of his 6 hit have been solo shots from the leadoff spot. I’d rather have him up in these bases loaded situations over Carson Kelly who’s either called out on strikes or grounds into a double play.

The bad sequencing to a small but noticeable degree can be linked to relying on Kelly, who hasn’t slugged consistently slugged since April to be a run producer. Same can be said for Suzuki since the ASB.
