From the moves they are making , I am really getting the feeling they will add a top SP with team control tomorrow . We will see .

Both Soroka and Kittrdige add significant amounts of K% to a bullpen lacking it. They will probably be the 2nd and 3rd best on the team immediately our of the pen.

Kittredge has a team option for next season, this might be costly.

It's 9M and he'll be 36, it's not adding much if any value.

This feels like a Jordan Wicks trade.

Value wise it's reasonable but man I feel like that has the potential to be bad

For Wicks, I think he needs out. It just doesn't feel like it's going to happen here for him. With Birdsell, Sanders and Assad in the mix, he feels expendable. And I just dont love changeup dominant relievers.

For his sake I hope he does well if he is in this. I do think he will be traded this deadline and this feels like the trade.

I mean it makes sense. At this point for 2026 he's behind all of Steele, Shota, Boyd, Taillon, Horton, Brown and Assad. If they get a controllable pitcher here he's 9th on the depth chart.

Is this your wish or do you see this somewhere

With my most humble apologies and a slight touch of embarrassment, I may have been duped. That was the return someone told me was reported, and I jumped the gun out of shock and a bit of frustration. Again, my apologies. I should’ve been more discerning.

Don’t really see the appeal of adding Kittredge and Soroka to the pen. I guess if Kittredge replaces Pressly, then okay? Fine I guess. It’s fine. Doesn’t move the needle much, but pretty meh. He’s a solid dependable medium leverage reliever

Soroka seems like a clear upgrade over Flexen if the velo comes back.

Kittredge is an above-average RH reliever with veteran experience.  He's also pretty nasty vs RHB with a really good slider that he uses as his primary pitch.  Vs LHB he's not as good so will probably be used vs RHB.

Not huge moves but are upgrades to the roster.  Most expected both these kinds of moves, and possibly 1 more SP who is at least above-average.  Wouldn't be surprised if they get another reliever and a bat for the bench or 3b.

With Boyd, Brown, and Horton possibly running on fumes by Sept/Oct, Jed would have to be crazy to not acquire another SP of some kind.

Probably just a matter of what caliber an arm they get.  If Jed balks at the price of the more quality SPs he can always grab another Soroka type for insurance.

Jed needs to overpay in this instance if that’s what it takes. The starting rotation won’t cut it even when Taillon comes back if the best they can do is nab another Soroka archetype, a money ball lottery value trade piece. They need a Mitch Keller/Kelly/Cabrera/whoever is available that can fill in as a formidable number 3 starter bare minimum.

So in a perfect world once Taillon comes off the IL line rotation consists of Boyd-Shota-Taillon-traded pitcher-Horton/Rae or Soroka? Will he be a a number 5 in place of Brown and soon Rae when Taillon comes back of a bullpen piece primarily? Playoffs he’ll be in pen assuming they add another starter.
