Is it going to rain there? I'm in Northwest Indiana and it's raining hard and is supposed to all day into tomorrow.

Yeah based on the forecast I'd guess this game starts closer to 8

I didn't know you were from Gary.

I am going to tonight's game and it's clear in Chicago right now with nothing scary on the radar. There was some rain earlier but I'd guess we start on time

Born and raised in Hammond but moved a few blocks south to Munster about twenty years ago.

Brujan starting at 3B in the 2nd game after the break , it’s weird to say the least .

I don’t like this at all.

That would be awesome. A summer Saturday without the cubs feels like a loss

I don't understand what it is that Brujan can do that Shaw doesn't do, at least, as well if not better. The glove is significantly worse and Brujan isn't much of a hitter.

I spent several months working in Rensselaer in 2023-24. The winter lover in me loved the cold and snow but kind of a miserable little town to live in. Proximity to Hawks games was great though. Spent a lot of that time making trips up to the UC to keep my sanity.

Wow. You’re like 10 minutes from me! That’s very cool.

That's what happens when the other guy is like 2 or 3 for his last 30.  Brujan got a knock the last time he started in NY.

I get that some folks (not you, just generally speaking) think the resources are better spent elsewhere due to how good the offense already is and how average the starting pitching is right now - but there is no way I want that dude getting 30 plate appearances in a 7 game playoff series vs the Phillies or Dodgers.  His time will come, but it isn't right now.  Cubs have to address that position with some kind of a trade, whether it's Castro, Suarez or someone else.

Shaw had a hit yesterday, and had a line out as well.

This seems strange.

He looked a little better yesterday.  Wonder if there is a trade on the horizon

Where’s Shaw? Trade, injury or other?

Bryan Bello has significant splits against LHH. He walks LHH 2x more than RHH (114% vs 5.6%) and has a 4.71 xFIP against LHH where as RHH, he has a 3.67 xFIP. This checks out as his two most used pitches are his sinker and his sweeper and these pitches have significant splits against opposite-handed hitters

Matt Shaw hasn't hit well enough on the year to be penciled in against a pitcher with heavy splits. It is why Reese McGuire is drawing in on a night game after a day game. Carson Kelly could handle this one, but they went with a LHH heavy lineup. The Cubs are forcing Bello off his two best pitches, or, are forcing him to use them in incredibly disadvantageous situations.

As well, Imanaga is a heavy FB% pitcher. 3b defense less needed. So Shaw is a good defender and RHH. Best to sit him, even if Brujan sucks. It's more than just Shaw, it's that one of them is lefty and they're playing the numbers.

Bello has huge L/R splits
