Feels like we’re hanging on by a thread right now.  Need this break.

Hanging onto the division lead by a thread, sure. But there are still only 2 teams with more wins than the Cubs.

They have to figure out this LH thing though. Over night they just stopped being anywhere close to competent vs them.

So we all agree and can see the obvious: our team is leaking oil and limping into the ASB. Suck against LHP and need one if not two starters. Also could stand to bolster the pen with another arm. So I've been more critical of Hoyer than most on here but this is do or die for him the next month or so. He has the ammo at Iowa to change the complexion of this team going forward.

HATE the idea of giving up Caissie or Alcantara for sure. I like Ballesteros too but I doubt he's a Cub after the deadline. Time for Jed and Carter to put up or shut up at this point. We've got some holes and have been exposed but can still win the division and make a run in Oct. with the right moves.

Cub weaknesses getting absolutely exposed tonight. Weak against lefties and desperately need a SP because enough with this bullpen games already.

They have the 2nd highest wRC+ against LHP in the NL this year.

I can assure you from experience facts hold no sway in this particular discussion

Here we were concerned about Aaron Judge. And instead Cody horsefeathers Bellinger homers 3 times.

Another one to file under “Baseball is dumb.”

I have no issue whatsoever dealing Alcantara and/or Ballesteros in the right deal.  Caissie is the guy I think we would really regret trading away.

Busch batting 8th must be some kind of 4D chess move I'm too stupid to figure out.

He'd be higher vs LHP than PCA for me.

I'll be upset if Caissie, or Wiggins get moved and especially if theyre moved for someone that short-term.

Would love to be wrong, but this sure feels like a 14-1 type blowout, where Judge goes deep 3 times.  Happ solo shot for the silver lining.

Serves you right for making silly predictions. Was only 11-0. 😞

It's a good thing that Shaw wasn't playing all game. The extra offense of Berti made all the difference.

Hey Berti got a hit 🤷‍♂️

What super funny is, Cubs only had 5 hits and 3 came from the bench turds in Brujan, Berti, and Turner 😅😅

10 hits allowed by Wicks in 3 innings of garbage time lol

He's a typical AAAA guy. Certainly serviceable at Iowa but has nothing going for him at the big league level. BUT he is left handed so we might be able to throw him in as a trade chip later this month. Lefties are always given every last chance to show they don't suck but he he's no bueno it would appear

Thats my fear.  They played crazy for 6 weeks and not so much since.  Which is the real team?

Our regulars need more days off i think, especially in these hot summer months.  Probably influenced by our anus of a bench.  ASB will be a good for guys.

Maybe they can trade for a version of Brujan who is a defensive whiz.  Need some relief in the middle INF and CF.

the Yankees have out payrolled us by like 90 million a year since covid

We're 13th in luxury tax payroll this year. 3rd in revenue behind Dodgers and Yanks

Is it simply coincidence that Jordan Wicks rhymes with DFA?

His ability to give up hits is impressive.

Last night was the fake team. The fake team has scored 12 runs in the last 60 innings vs left handed starting pitchers. The real team will show up vs Max Fried this afternoon and Carson Kelly will club 3 homers in as many at bats. They’ll put that 153 wRC+ in April vs lefties handed handed pitchers to good use this afternoon.
