The leverage guys in the bullpen are all almost certainly unavailable.  Maybe Keller can go, but you'd certainly try to stay away from him if possible.  And with a 5.5 game lead I think it'd be dumb to push it.

Given the above and the Pirates struggles with lefties, I would be shocked if Thielbar and Cabrera don't each go and wouldn't be surprised if each were asked for more than 3 outs.

Sounds like today is a good day to put up a lot of runs.

Mentioned this in yesterday's thread, but 11 of Dansby's 13 homers are solo shots.

OPS with:

Bases Empty: .832
Runners on: .548
RISP: .423

I thought it was wild that the Cubs Rockies series only had 14 total runs scored. Well this series has only had 11 runs scored in the first 3 games. Better pitching this series though.

No. Who wants that anyways? I want the Cubs closer to load the bases in the top of the 9th and then wiggles out of the situation and preserving the 3-2 W.

Give me that "hold on to your butts" game.

sarcasm.

Bottom 3 of order and Rea on the mound,  yikes, not exactly going for the kill today.

Hopefully Rea is on and they get some production out of them 3 today.

I like that Counsell is thinking big picture and getting a few guys a few days of rest  with the day off tomorrow. Maddon used to do the same thing. Of course the Cubs bench was much stronger in those days.

It’s nice having a bench where Tommy LaStella is left off of the playoff roster thanks to quality depth.

Rea and Brown in a race to see who can get pulled from the rotation when Shota is back

Rea, and it no even close, while inconsistent, Brown has the stuff to dominate, Rea has no capacity to do so.
