This is Greene's first start off the IL, and he didn't do a rehab.  You should expect a fairly short day from him, something like 70 pitches?  So this game should be a little easier than it looks on paper.

Not just that, but I love getting into a team's bullpen early the first game of a series. It limits their options throughout the rest of the series. This was more true back in the days of 11-man pitching staffs, but I think it does give a small advantage still in this era if the manager is making bullpen decisions tomorrow with two or three guys "unavailable".

I used to frequent an office building like 4-5 blocks from GABP. A coworker would always stop in and grab a huge order from Potbelly to provide lunch to everyone. Now I can’t think of the city of Cincinnati or the Reds without getting a sudden craving for a horsefeathers Potbelly sandwich.

I really should drive and down and catch one of these

I thought the same thing (though for me, it's "drive up"). Convinced the partner to do a Sunday day-trip and then hit Jungle Jim's on the way back.

We’re living in “austerity mode” as we try to sell this house, so a ballgame might not be in the cards this time.

We did the house-buying thing last year (thankfully we were coming from renting so we didn't have to handle a sale on top of it all). Absolutely no fun. Think I'll just die in this house.

Good chance to distance themselves from the Reds a bit with a series win or sweep

Tough pitching matchups. Even 1 win gives them a 3-3 road trip. Come home and take 5 of 6. Obviously I want 2 of 3. But even if the series doesn’t go too well, as long as they get 1 they can repay the Reds next weekend in Wrigley.

have this weird feeling we're gonna torch Greene

Run him up to 50 pitches in the first two innings. Who was the pittsburgh pitcher the Cubs broke in 2016 or 2017 by running him up to like 70 pitches in two innings?

This feels like a big series to me even though it’s May.  On the road against a division team with plus starters - LG Cubs!!

I also expect Greene to be closer to 90 pitches tonight than 70. He pitched 16 days ago. Pulled for an injury. Must not have been too bad since he is pretty close to a minimum stay. My guess is he has been throwing while on the IL. Unl SS they are bringing him back too soon and he gets hurt again today, I would think his pitch count would be pretty close to normal. Maybe a few less than what they usually allow.

Brasier activated , Roberts to Iowa

The next move is what interest me. Supposedly Hodge is going to be a minimum stay. What happens when he comes back?

Has to be Merryweather or Flexen. Palencia is getting results so it would be kind of weird to send him down

I agree. But which one? Also, when Imanaga comes back I am not sure they should send Horton down. Maybe Horton moves to the pen. Maybe they go to a 6 man rotation . Whoever doesn’t go between Flexen or Merryweather goes when Imanaga comes back?

I'm blacked out for these games. Who has the sketchy Russian streaming site for me?

https://bilasports.org/mlb is always pretty good. Streameast or crackstreams is pretty good once you select the Cubs game.

Alrighty, don’t blame me if someone hacks into your bank account and you lose your family, your house and the dog. Or, if you have to refresh the screen every 2 minutes.

Brown should be the one who goes to the pen if both stays up.
