What about Sergio mitre? Whatever happened to that guy anyway?

He's in Mexican prison, I suggest not looking up why.

This thread jogged my memory a bit and brought the names Kevin Foster and Jeremi Gonzalez to mind. Two Cubs that are sadly no longer with us.

Those were two early favorites of mine when I was little. Frank Castillo too, who also passed.....

Am I a Sixth Sense?

Castillo’s passing slipped my mind. Man, three pitchers from the same Cubs team who all passed tragically.

Honestly, had to look it up once you mentioned Cruz! I kind of forget Cruz and how great of a prospect he was. I knew it was in that "early 00's" but couldn't remember if he beat Mark by a year, or was a year after. 25 years ago was a long time ago.

Mark Prior is really the first "prospect" I remembered following. Before that it was more like these guys appeared as if an apparition, out of thin air. Prior was kind of the first guy I knew of draft to first game.

I saw a top 10 songs this week in 2000 list this morning and it hit me like ton of bricks that I graduated from college 25 years ago this month.

Ugh. That's 20 for me, then.

I hate it.

I'm only at six years from undergrad and one from grad school. It helps to be a screwup who goes back to school later in life.

I graduated college 15 years ago this month 💀

When I joined this site I was 15 and named my username after Prior.

And now have two kids and am coming up on 40. Time flies. But I imagine the OGs here the same as they were 20 years ago.

Lance Dickson is the answer.

I was at the game where he hurt his elbow.  His debut I think?

Prior was a phenomenon.  More on the Strasburg/Skenes level.

Juan Cruz was so filthy.  I've still never seen another fastball move like that.

I remember getting excited about guys like Steve Smythe and Jae Kuk Ryu.
