pisses me off that they black balled him for years simply because everyone (rightfully but still) assumed he did steroids, as opposed to the countless others who used banned substances and were never good enough for anyone to care whether they used or not, then let him back in as a PR move after forcing him to apologize for using steroids while never saying steroids. So pointless.

I agree that the "you have to admit using steroids" requirement to get back into the organization was dumb.  On the other hand, Sammy was kind of an ass and there were other reasons for the team to distance themselves from him.  But that time has long since passed and it's good that we're moving forward.

That was a really weak apology where he tried to use injuries and wanting to play 162 as justification for cheating. And then says the stats from his era deserve more respect lol.  Dude didn't regret anything.

I get that he can't come out and admit PEDs for legal issues and formerly being under oath, but c'mon Sammy why you being such a b*tch still?

I'm fine with him coming back, he was a fun player and was good to fans generally, but he's also an arse on this issue.

I don't give a crap about the steroids, honestly, and I think the handwringing over the steroid era is so much manufactured outrage and melodrama. I mean it was essentially the soup of the day in a litany of competitive advantages players have sought over the years (especially as it wasn't explicitly against the rules for most of that era). It was just more flashy and obvious than most.

Many will disagree, but I just can't conjure an f- to give about the roids; much of the league was on that train and most of them sucked anyway. And I feel like the league was complicit in the whole affair until it became inconvenient. It barely diminishes my enjoyment of that period of time.

Now Sammy was absolutely an ass in many ways, being a diva and arguably (well, maybe inarguably) disrespectful of his teammates, and I think that's what he should apologize for. Not to the fans or media, but to his teammates.

And as much as I detest Tom Ricketts, the real villain in the Sosa fiasco (other than Sammy himself) was MacPhail.

But I'll be glad to have him back, as for better or worse he was/is a big part of Cubs history.

I loved Sammy, so glad he’s finally being embraced by the Cubs after all he’s done for the organization.  He’s what made me a Cubs fan in the first place.

I forgot that he says he didn't break the law but PED use is illegal.  Lol

The integrity of the game matters a lot more than Sosa or Ricketts.  Sosa is sorry not sorry and Ricketts just wants to sell Cubs Con tickets and Sosa merch.  They can both suck my  balls and so can the jockstrap lickers.
