1) Sisco came off the IR too soon, during the chilly play-offs in '03 and developed tendonitis that lingered though most of the '04 season. His velocity was coming back in august, so yes Hendry should have seen enough to protect him on the 25 based on potential alone.

 

At the risk of redirecting the ire of the board to me, I think this is a new argument that I haven't seen yet in this thread. I don't know what validity it has.

I'm not sure, but I do know Sisco didn't start regularly in August with all the hurricane-outs and damage at Daytona's home ballpark, so that might have affected him when he did start.

Right after giving up a hit to Nunez, then a hit to the "weak hitting catcher" named Molina scoring Nunez (making it 7-4 Cards).. Other than that he looked good.. Especially in the 9th going through Al, Jimmy, and Mabes.

If the Cubs have lost a closer in Sisco, then the loss is regretable but not all that great.
