I will always love and appreciate JT for what he meant to the Hawks, greatest Hawks captain that ever played, but he’s turning 37 and has been out of the game battling illness for two years. I just don’t see it happening.

I agree, concussions, vertigo, long covid, back issues. I guess he went to India or something, so he probably did the Aaron Rodgers school of healing.

Blue Jackets have turned back into a pumpkin. They have been playing above expectations all year, but a brutal stretch of schedule pushed them out of playoff position. Hopefully they can build on this next year.

Jackets were a top 5 team in the NHL in scoring but have now scored 1 goal in the past 4 games.

Probably reason why Jim Thome would rather attend games in Chicago than Ohio

Torts out in Philly

the writing was probably on the wall before the Blackhawks dismantled them, but that may have been the proverbial nail.

Tortorella will get another head coaching job because the only thing NHL gms like doing more than firing head coaches is hiring well known former head coaches. Hopefully it’s not in Chicago

If your coach gets fired for being "too player friendly" or for "not enough discipline", you hire Torts. Then, after he rubs everyone the wrong way for 3 years, you swing back the other way

This is the most accurate statement ever. 🤣

Anyone watching NCAA hockey?  Was looking for a potential MSU - BC match in the final, now rooting for WMU although solving Denver is going to be a real task.  Don't know what to think of PSU-BU, BU I guess?

I watched a bit of it last week. WMU is highest rated team left, just ahead of Denver. PSU is lowest, but they are all very close so should be good games. Will be interesting to see if this is Denver’s coach’s last college game(s)

Definitely should be close games, WMU went 2-1 vs. Denver, believe all were one goal games.  Didn't know there was speculation about the Denver coach moving on to, I presume, the NHL?

He’s got two gold medals with team USA from world juniors and two more NCAA

Thanks was about to check out any rumors about possible ties to the Blackhawks.  I'm for it, let's give him a shot.

Amid the spotlight on Ovechkin, it's worth noting that Patrick Kane is just 10 goals away from reaching 500 in his career and is only 39 points short of becoming the all-time points leader among American-born players.

My heart would love to see him do it as a Hawk next season as unlikely as that may be.

I wouldn't call it unlikely, unless he's looking for a guaranteed contract beyond one year. Ending his career as a Hawk would be quite popular with the fan base. His veteran experience would be a great learning tool for the youngsters.

I'm pretty meh on it. He's definitely matured since his younger days, but that doesn't forgive his past behavior.

If this core had already come into its own and established an identity, then I'd be more interested. But I'd much rather they sign Marner, trade for another definite top six player, then draft Misa, Hagens or Martone.

It is incredibly unlikely.

they made a point in cutting off from the past to have the new kids step into the spotlight. What role would Kane even have here? An aging small defensively challenged forward that can score is something that teams with a well rounded roster could utilize. But he doesn’t really fit this team. And it would be an abrupt about face from prior direction.

Well said and absolutely on point.

i'm in the minority, but i have no interest in bringing kane back. unfortunately i associate him with more bad stuff than good

That was a long time ago. He’s a father now. This is an instance where I think you can say that he is a different person now.
