I know it's very un-Cardinal like, but I'm surprised Saint Louis didn't want to make an attempt to go after Crochet/Skubal at the deadline. They need an ace pitcher badly. I know they have Sonny Gray, but still.

I think they did (as well as other teams) and they didn't want to give up Walker.
