Wow, Cowles is actually kind of exciting. He drastically decreased his K% this year and is torching AA for a 141 wRC+. He is 24, so age isn't on his side, but I do like him.

Seems like a strong return for Leiter

Infielder age 24 at AA but good bat numbers

But I really love tall pitchers lol

Yeah I haven’t looked too deep into it but both pieces look good and MLB ready

Neely could probably step into the bullpen today.

Not mad at the return. Neely could come up in August if the Cubs wanted and be an immediate replacement in the bullpen. And Cowles has done a good job reworking his approach. Could be a good utility guy on the bench who can move around.

Preseason FG commentary on Neely

I'd assume with his length/size that his extension plays that FB velocity up. Not like, 100mph up, but up.

I just told a buddy he's RH Little.  The blurb I read says he's sitting 95 and touches 97.

I love all the hot takes from Yankee fans about how Leiter sucks. The guy has a 2.12 FIP and he's 15-20% below where his LOB% should be which is why the ERA is not great. The guy is nails.

Really like this return for Lieter. Damn, Neely is huge. Cowles has to be going straight to AAA hopefully.

He's injured?

So they must reallllly like Neely. Sticking close to that fastball/slider 2 pitch combo.

Do you know if Neeley is a strikeout type of pitcher or a pitch to contact?

Agree on the stats here, but also these two were unranked by FG back in December and 22nd and 29th on the MLB list that came out midseason. Jed usually does pretty good here, but was hoping for a little more from what is probably our best reliever to be traded.
