Absolutely no way he makes it to 17. Gotta think he shoots up boards like Horton did after today

If this does happen, could it possibly push someone to 17 who may not have been available prior to Wood going up the draft board?

Would love to see Quentin Young in the 2nd, but he's probably not there.

Kiley said the Padres and Dodgers like him and he had the Dodgers taking him at 40 in his mock.

17. Cubs: Wehiwa Aloy, SS, Arkansas (No. 22)

Another college bat -- one of the few still playing in the College World Series. Aloy has played himself into this range of the Draft with an excellent season for the Razorbacks.

Wood and Bremner still on the board in this scenario

I kind of have my hope on a pitcher in the first round. I like Bremmer, but I trust them. They usually nail the first pick.

So draft guys, what can you tell me about the draft prospects of William Patrick. He got an invite to the MLB combine and is an LSU commit.

I taught him this year and he's a good kid and great athlete.

Not a draft guy, but wanted to say, "Hi Vance!!!"

Vance! Hope you’re doing well!

MLB Pipeline ranks him the 90th best draft prospect (3rd round) and wrote this up:

Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 70 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45

One of the top high school athletes in the 2025 Draft, Patrick is a three-sport star at St. Frederick, a private Catholic school in Monroe, La. He's committed to Louisiana State for baseball but is also a talented wide receiver/defensive back who could get the opportunity to make the football team as a walk-on. Additionally, he won the state long jump championship as a freshman and finished second as both a sophomore and senior.

Patrick has electrifying speed and broke a Super 60 Showcase record by running the 60-yard dash in 6.29 seconds in February. While he has played shortstop and third base this spring, he projects as a center fielder in college or pro ball. His quickness alone should make him at least a solid defender in center and his plus arm is stronger than most at the position.

Patrick's athleticism and strength stand out more than his polish at the plate, and he hasn't faced much high-level competition. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has a quick right-handed swing, though it can get too long and uphill when he tries to do too much at the plate. He'll need to settle down his approach and will require some time to develop, but his upside could make it worth the wait.

Thanks! He's  a really good kid, so will be excited to see where he ends up. I didn't get as much a chance to watch him play, but the couple games I did, there were always 3-4 scouts there.
