Lucky as lucky could get there.

After the Cubs hit several balls today with eV of 95+  and couldn't score,  I'll take it

The Cubs are not playing the best baseball right now but they’re still finding ways to win games. I’ll take it even if the viewing experience was a bit rough at times (though not Shota’s pitching)

Can't believe we get Shota for another 4 years after this one at an extremely reasonable contract.  Chalk one up for Jed's fiscal prudency.

Well, that a was refreshing win. As usual the starting pitching was great from Imanaga. Let's hope that game winning hit gets Morel going again, as we could sure use his bat. On to the next one and let's get a split.

Shota is already one of my all-time favorite cub players. Dude has it all. Ability and an awesome personality too. When he pitches it’s must see tv for me.

This looks like an official account.  According to this explanation, the safe call was due to the ball getting knocked free and not the initial slide/tag.  (Not sure why its not embedding but the link is an explanation of the replay decision with a reply of the play in question).

Really interesting rule.  Obviously Bellinger didn't intentionally knock the ball away but he was clearly tagged and then transferring to his throwing hand, presumably because Morel is still a live runner on base.  But at the same time, Bellinger was completing the process of his slide so I can kind of see why the decision makes sense.

Either way, I'm happy with how it was interpreted.

I don't know what the rulebook says, but I'm not sure there's really a transfer either.  He reaches for Bellinger with ball in hand, and there's never a point where his right hand isn't the one controlling the ball compared to the glove.

MLB.TV is half price for a limited time. $69.99 for all teams/yearly. I assume everyone already has it, but thought I’d report the news anyway lol.

Only 14.5M/year against the LT after he wins ROY and CY this year. Steal!

Padres-Braves rainout means Atlanta plays a double header on Monday before flying to Chicago to play the Cubs.  Pretty huge rest advantage, hopefully that lets the Cubs sneak 2/3.

If Imanaga continues to be good the Cubs can pick up an option after 2025 to extend him through 2028.  That would be a total of 5 years for 90m, so 18m AAV if you include the 10m posting fee and 1m signing bonus.  For CBT payroll purposes I believe it would be around 15.8m AAV.

I think Bart caught the ball and went for the tag with the ball in glove but also secured with his barehand so it doesn't get knocked out as catchers are taught, and then the hands split apart either before or after the tag and got unlucky with Belli knocking it out.

Some might disagree but I think any game-ending play shouldn't be able to be subject for review, even a HR call.  It's just anti-climactic, just let the teams walk it off.  Umpires have never been this good at their jobs anyways in the history of baseball, not by a longshot.

That’s not a bad play because it’s an easy DP.

Yeah but the score is tied late in the game, they're going home if they can you'd think.  Isn't that a safety squeeze kind of situation?  Why wouldn't Happ at least wait until they throw to 2B and start the DP to commit?  I wonder by the stats how often runner in that kind of situation works.

The baserunning on this team is terrible.  Same base coaches, virtually the same players, not sure the issue.  Maybe just bad luck let's hope.
