Best way to shake off a horrid result, is to get back at it with an earlier start time!

Wicks (0-2, 5.68 ERA) vs. Pfaadt (1-0, 6.48 ERA)

Cubs lineup not yet out as of this post, but here is the DBacks lineup.

Let's get a series win and move on to the next homestand!

10-7 with a chance to go to 11-7. It has not been pretty but once this team gets healthy and some of the cupcakes show up on the schedule starting tomorrow this team will be fine

4-4 on the current road trip. A win makes it a very respectable 5-4. A loss, and it's 4-5 which ordinarily would be okay.  But given the 8-0 lead that turned into a loss and the pen problems last night, 4-5 really seems like a bummer. WIn this afternoon, head home, and play 6 games against a couple of teams that are struggling.

Heading out there today. Sure hope I see a win. While a 4-5 west coast trip wouldn’t be awful, a 5-4 trip is just so much better.
Hopefully, even if they lose we have some perspective after this one. I think everyone would have taken 10-8 after 18 games, especially if they knew Taillon wouldn’t have a start yet, Steele would be lost opening day, Merryweather would go down and Hendricks would absolutely suck.
10-8 isn’t bad. And it is looking like the central is coming back down a bit. So the Cubs are fine. But a win would be great.

Cubs are going to win this win. Wicks has pitched into some tough luck this year and the defense has not supported him well. This will change today.

They hit Pfaadt pretty hard in his first start vs. the Cubs, 3 HR's, in a 5-2 victory, second start he threw 5+ shutout innings for one of his 3 victories on the season.  Given how the rest of the league has pummeled him, I think that second start was more of an outlier than the norm, believe the Cubs will get to him.

Mastroboner in left is definitely a decision

Could be his last game, Wisdom was pulled from Iowa game in 4th, hopefully he headed to Wrigley

Don't see any transaction for the bullpen,  I hope Wick can go deep today and the bats continue to put runs up.

Watch today game goes quick like 2.5 hours..lol

Ahh yeah thats right, that was the one game we won against them last year in 7 tries.  I dont know why I recall him owning us twice.  Probably was just annoyed that we lost the first 3 games of that series at Wrigley, he had a funny name and an ERA over 6 and wasn't satisfied that we "only" got 4 runs off of him in 6 innings.

Plus I kept seeing this dude pitching in the playoffs which annoyed me.  He was a consensus top 100 prospect going into last year though so clearly he's not just some random dude that owned us.

If they win I will enjoy the game. If they lose it will not be enjoyable. But, thank you.

Looks like he's tougher on lefties than righties for his career, which tells me he probably features a changeup.

Edit:  Well that was way off.  Apparently he throws a 94 mph cutter and an average curve and has added a slider based on this article posted in the offseason.

I would have assumed he was the sacrificial lamb in case this game went sideways, and he still might be, but weirdly looks like he was the closer for Iowa and hasn't pitched more than 2 innings in an appearance yet.
