Wonder what pitches led to the HR in Japan?  They said they're trying to teach Imanaga to sometimes get the fb high in the zone which he didn't do much of in Japan because the zone is different here.   Could work but can't imagine that's going to help the GB% and HR/9.

My understanding is that fastballs with lots of ride like Shota's get hit really hard when you locate them low in the zone because they're meant to be up in the zone.  Almost like the inverse of throwing high sinkers.  Yet Japan is still in the "pound the knees" era which doesn't really jive with Shota's arsenal.

I do expect a decent number of homeruns out of Shota because I think he's going to have a fairly low GB%.  But I'm cautiously optimistic he's not going to have an elevated HR/FB on top of that and give up 40 dongs like Lance Lynn.

Well most pitchers hover back and forth around the 13% mean for HR/FB so i'm expecting that unless he gets lucky or unlucky, and like most pitchers i assume the GB% will largely determine how many dingers he gives up.

Encouraged by his start so far though besides the HR, he could be a good one if he's able to settle that down a bit, but hard to see him as a GB pitcher

He is still in the game.

Stayed in when he got beaned too though.  Saw the play, hope he's ok.  Was a rundown and the fielder landed on top of him so it might have been from that.

Suttcliffe is such a goober. Talking about Smyly blowing it past guys as he continues to get luck throwing fastballs down the middle of the plate.

I cracked up when he said people talk about him having a bad season but noone mentions the 9 very good starts he had when he went 7-2...lol

9 out of 23 isn't bad 😅

Offensive lineup today could be pretty similar to what we see on opening day.
happ, seiya, Cody, morel, Dansby, Busch, hoerner, tauchman (in LF), Amaya

(anyone know how to get the bullet points/list on a mobile browser? Typing out nine names with the default paragraph spacing seems like it would come out way too long)

If you turn the phone to landscape it should show up again, in portrait it cuts down the options to fit seemingly without another way to expose them.

Brown has simplified his wind up and looks in a lot better control of his body.

If this were a regular season game I'd be turning on push notifications for tomorrow's umpire scorecard.  Brown's been getting squeezed bad.

Wait, is there a way to see how the umpires rated somewhere?
