You see an actual plan outside of the young kids ?

I've been thinking/saying since last offseason that I felt they were going to look and go with these kids over signing FA to long term deals (Swanson aside) of 4+ yrs.

PCA, Morel, Mervis, Canairo, Amaya,  Alcantara, Shaw, Busch, etc ., we're going to be seeing alot of these guys this season, not sure if we're going to see any current FA signed for 4+ yrs.

You answered before I can delete my original post. I do think they will add a bat, but you have been suggesting the young guys for years now. Of course you said it last year too and they added Bellinger, Taillon, Swanson, Barnhardt, Mancini, Hosmer, Smyly, and Tauchman all to play ahead of the youth you said they would play. I believe there is one more bat they will add and when healthy I still think either Peralta or Smith will be the 26 player over either Mervis, PCA and Canario. My hope is PCA proves he belongs sometime in June and they bring him up and release or send down whoever is player 26.

They did, Peralta and Smith..

They may sign another but it won't be anyone that'll get a long term deal..

I'm holding out hope for Bellinger but ....

I’d rather trade for another long term bat, but honestly, whos even realistic for Bellinger besides us? I’ve seen the angels mentioned, but I just don’t see that going down.

My stand was signing guys long term, outside of Swanson none of those guys were long term signings that will keep any of these kids from coming up and playing When and If they will be ready.

Mervis had an opportunity last season,  didn't do well.  Amaya got his opportunity and has stuck. Morel came up last season and is now going to get a shot at 3B.

This season we will probably see a few more get opportunities.

Peralta and Or Smith will likely get a shot early on, but again they're not long term and can be easily dropped if they decide to go with a kid at the start or later in season like last season when they bounced Hosmer, Mancini, and Barnhardt for Mervis, Morel, and Amaya.

I think that Happ should have been leading against RHP for the past 2-3 years.  I think it's a done deal now.  Against LHP, I'd either give him the day off, or hit him in the bottom 3rd of the order.

Is my computer having a stroke, or is the CF camera broadcasting in standard def while literally every other camera is in normal HD?

Let's hope the lens just isn't in focus or something.

Caleb Kilian might become a thing again when he shifts to short relief

Yeah, when he's coming in throwing 98 mph and locating it's not hard to see why people were so high on him back in the day.

Young guys looking good..

I'm standing on my thoughts that theyre going to be giving these kids all the opportunities over signing FA to long term deals.

Jesse Chavez also looking horrible lol.  First game though, might not be putting in max effort or rusty...let's hope for his sake.

Lettering on the uniforms is way too small.

Ricketts cost-cutting.  Gotta pay for "Crow-Armstrong" letters.

Hits 30 ft/sec on his defensive sprints. Really nice addition to an already fast team.

He had 98th percentile sprint speed in MLB last year,

Meh still no out pitch.  It's possible the sticky stuff had an effect on him because his curve looked really good in the AFL that fall he went on a tear in the playoffs.

Peralta and Smith are not exactly the bat I was talking about. Both, at best, are the last player on the team. I am thinking more like Bellinger. We will see. But I don’t think they have enough now. And expecting all the youth to excel in the majors is a recipe for a team to fail. And not one a large market team should do. Bellinger make so much sense because he is insurance for Busch and PCA. And if by some chance both are good, they can both play and Bellinger can still find a spot. They can rotate DH. I just think it is a bad idea to hope for all young guys to succeed. That is something small markets have to do.

Quality shade from Counsell, “Huge crowd on day one so you know you’re in a different place, no question about it.”

This one isn't on Ricketts specifically. The letters (among many things) look ridiculous on all these MLB jerseys with the new Fanatics design. I think/hope something will be done before the regular season.

I dont disagree with you, I just feel this is the route Jed is taking. I think he's trying to replicate 2015 in some ways with a big difference being that they have more young pitching in system and they have more young talented depth throughout.

But, I think he has his eyes on the OF talent they have in system to go along with Shaw as far as position players goes.

PCA is extremely aggressive on the bases.  Like the hustle, hopefully it results in more positives than negatives and isn't reckless as he showed a bit last year in mlb.  He ran through the stop sign by Willie at 3B today when he scored in the infield grounder.
