Dang, thats an impressive amount of money for Mooney who had a really rough year (but after a pretty solid career in a bad offensive environment)

The league is placing the blame with Fields. Getsy got a new OC job and he hadn't even finished boxing up his cubicle at Hallas Hall.

I think the Bears really need to find at least one legit FA veteran receiver because with 4 picks after 1...you can't fill this WR corps to serious standards.

WR looking like a decent bet to be the "position we mysteriously ignore" for the second time in three offseasons.

I know we will get one in the draft, quite possibly at 9, but we've invested a ton in the position the last few years to be this thin

I was just thinking the same thing.  This entire offseason has been a really bad look for Fields.

We'll get something in FA.  Even if you draft a WR in the 1st, the WR group is extremely thin.  I know Poles has a way of ignoring position groups as you alluded to but i can't see him completely ignoring WR in FA.  Time will tell if I'm right..

Everybody sucked, period.

Have they invested a ton? A 2nd for Claypool, and you can argue a future first was offset for Moore, but absolutely no money when every big passing team is spending like mad on receivers. It has turned into a 4/5 man position group and much like the offensive line you need to constantly add to it regularly.  Three offseasons and that’s it, so far from Poles. He should have invested a ton but I would argue he absolutely did not, especially by completely punting his first offseason.

I like how you are both trashing Poles for opposite reasons.

Drew Lock signed with the Giants so that's one less premium backup option for Fields (I'm defining this as backup with an opportunity to win the starting job).

Seattle might be a good landing spot.  I think Geno is the only QB currently on their roster.

Maybe there are some good 3rd string options for Fields? 🤔

Virtually a first for Moore, a second for claypool, a third for valus and a fourth for Scott.

That's a lot for just two drafts

The 1st for Moore is theoretically offsetting a 2025 1st, when they got a 2nd instead. They didn’t straight up trade a first for him. And it wasn’t two drafts, it’s 4. 2022/23/24/25 picks were involved.

I did forget about Velus though. What a bad pick.

So they've addressed back up TE and RB1, 2 things that weren't real high up on the needs list. They still haven't touched WR2, WR3, Edge or, hopefully, C. I'm not exactly enthralled with how things are going.

Pretty sure the center we traded for is expected to be the starter.  We really don't seem to value the position

I think there's been some mixed things on that. Notably Greg Gabriel saying he's starter, which makes me think he's the swing backup.

One of the bear reporters threw out the Oregon center since the pro day is today. Whether thats anything or just idle speculation, I don't know.

If they were really in on Davis, I'm hoping they'd be in on some of the other bigger receiver names out there. I think Mooney is the only other "big" name that hasn't been re-signed so far. D-Line isn't looking as promising.

He's going in the 1st round now, so unless they're trading 1 or 9, that isn't happening

I dunno if they're just shrugging their shoulders and are like 'fine, this back up Guard will be our center, whatever' or if they're planning things in the draft, but it is troubling.

Especially in a year where we saw Center horsefeathers-ups really weigh heavily in games - Bears games obviously, but also very notably in the College playoff and in the Super Bowl. A good center is important!!

The context was if they trade down from 9.  But I've heard some crazy helium. It could be like 13-18 range he goes.
