This is good. It basically guarantees that the Panthers will win any tie breaker because their SOS is pure horsefeathers

Thanks to Poles

This is a valid point. I've seen people ascribe this 4D chess to Poles, and maybe there is some truth to it. But I'm always curious if Poles made a killer decision or if the Panthers just botched this. Bears wanted one of Burns, Moore, DT (always forget his name). Panthers messed up big by not making it be Burns since they have since been unable to extend him. Then there was chatter about the Panthers making a move for a #1 receiver, driving Panthers twitter bananas. Rightly so.

It's definitely possible that Moore replaced a 2025 1st, but Burns would not have given that he was on the last year of his deal.

New England might be that team we want to finish in the #2 draft spot if the Bears aren't shopping QB this offseason.

They might be bad for a long time. Don't have to pillage their roster, just take as many good picks as you can get.

Gonna be interesting when the bears next head coach is dealing their pick to his old team

Kind of amazing how much the Bears have been involved in major changes for other teams this year. First, they blow a huge lead against an awful broncos team that is now steamrolling teams. Then they blow out a decent commanders team that has since fallen apart and fired their DC. They beat a raiders team that fired their head coach a week later, then beat a panthers team that fired their head coach a week later.
if I’m a coach facing the bears down the stretch I’m doing anything possible to avoid a loss.

The good news for those coaches is that one of the best things to do to avoid a loss the last couple of years is to play the Bears.

O'Connell is safe in Minnesota as he seems to be a pretty good HC so far.  But after that:

Lions - the guy seems like a meathead; was awful to start his tenure but then the team played really well from the middle of last season until the middle of this season; they're trending in the wrong direction.

Browns - Stefanski started 11-5 then 8-9. then 7-10.  Probably safe but slipping in the latter part of the season shows another coach with a downward trend.

Cardinals - Jonathan Gannon is in his first year of a 5-year deal and he inherited a trainwreck.  But Bill Bidwell is the owner so anything is possible.

Falcons - Arthur Smith has been anything but solid in his previous 2 years as HC with two 7-10 seasons.  He has them hovering around the same mark. Their remaining six opponents are a combined 20 under .500 with the best record being the Colts at 6-5. Another losing season and he could be kaput.

Packers - I don't see the Packers firing LaFleur after his first season with Love (and without AR), but after the loss to Detroit to end last season's playoff possibility, and then a potentially poor season this year, it could happen.  Doubtful, but possible.

So are the Bears like a black cat to the remaining teams on their schedule?

Did you read the Greenberg article in The Athletic? Skip past the Harbuargh part.

https://theathletic.com/5076332/2023/11/20/chicago-bears-nfl-draft-harbaugh-harrison/

I read it and ... No

The whole thing boils down to "fields might be ok, QB prospects aren't sure things and MHj is."

To which I reply he isn't, I don't care, and good for him he's still just a WR

Turns out it was just regular old racism, not double racism.

The good news is that the chuds are planning to wear red/black face paint to the next game in support of this mini-racist

You can't blame this kid for dressing like this or whatever. It's on his parents. But also, and lets be honest, it's nothing to get upset about unless you are looking to be offended.

I don't think people should pile on this poor kid, but I'm fine with people crapping on the Chiefs (and Braves) organizations for perpetuating these stereotypes (via marketing, in-stadium music/graphics, merchandising, etc.)

it's just that our society is so very fucked up right now. This is not a thing that anyone should spend any time either getting upset about or defending. But that's not what is going to happen. If they are offended, It would be great if a group of concerned citizens would reach out to the Chiefs organization and explicitly ask them to not allow people to wear traditional costumes or whatever in the stadium. That would solve the problem at the antecedent stage. If the Chiefs organization refuses, then they can make a case in public. But people are always going to do stupid horsefeathers, not out of malice all the time, but out of ignorance.

There are obvious counterexamples. A bar owner in my old home town posted on Facebook his food menu and a White Power hand gesture, within 8 months the bar was on the verge of bankruptcy and sold.
