Very odd strategy to go with the wide alignment with the edge rushers. They created natural passing lanes for a 5'8 QB by not bunching things up and forcing him to try to throw over them. And it's not like they were out there trying to contain him from getting out of the pocket either. Just terrible coaching.

Why didn’t the Bears go for 2 when they scored their only TD?  Thought that was odd

Terrible coaching.

Honestly, if they had gone for 2 this is a different game. Either they are up 4 and Carolina doesn't go for a very stupid 59 yard FG. Or they are up 2 and Carolina plays for the winning FG instead of whatever the hell they were doing.

I will say this: the table is set for Fields. The Oline is playing the best ball it has in years. The running game is rolling. Kmet is playing well. Up to Fields to prove himself over the rest of this season.

No turnovers. No sacks allowed. 0 defensive TDs allowed. 7 min TOP advantage. Outgained them by 80 yards (130 before that final drive) and still need a bad coaching decision to beat the worst team in the NFL

The DLine seemingly had a pretty good game today.  Seemed like they controlled the run game and got a decent amount of pressure on Young, which is much better than what we saw earlier in the year.  Have to remember that its the Panthers and all that but good to see some actual pass rush with Sweat in there.

I've always been a believer that all wins are good wins but this one tested that belief

It kept the Carolina pick in contention to be the #1 pick. It was a good win

I’m happy they won. I’m glad Carolina lost. But part of me is irked that the same group of people feel this game was somehow a vindication for what Poles has done, how Eberflus has coached, and the way Bagent has played. They won this game because the opponent is bad, the QB was a panicky rookie and they had zero weapons.

the best player on the offensive line is still the guy that was a holdover from the previous regime. Bagent did nothing in that game, and the offense left a lot of points on the field directly because of all the things Bagent can’t do.

they won a game, yay. It’s good to win games, but they might only have 2 more of those left this season. Partially because Eberflus is not a good in game decision maker, and apparently not a post game explanation giver. Eberflus is the reason the Bears lost to the Giants last year and he will directly lose them another game this year too. He’s a clown (go back and watch that halftime interview and his uncomfortable smile) and yet a lot of Bears media thinks Poles wants to keep him here and would be justified in doing so.

Ebeflus and Poles have been good at one thing, putting the Bears in position to draft high in the first round (but not the 2nd). Eventually you need to be good at beating good NFL teams, not just the bottom dwellers and teams about to fire their head coach. These two have not shown anything that indicates they are capable of leading the team to multiple wins over good teams.

Who are these people you are referring to and why does their irrelevant opinion irk you? I mean if Georgie was coming out and praising those doofuses I could see being irritated, but are you just talking about radio personalities, or worse, callers? The organization is in a terrible spot. There is nothing to celebrate. Just glad we didn't slip in position with our top pick. That's literally it.

I don’t care enough to go back and check the details but I remember questioning why we didn’t go for 2 at the time and I honestly thought kicking it to go up 6 was not necessarily as bad as it seems because in my mind we’d lose by 1 after Carolina kicked two FG’s had they not converted. Lol.

Some people who wrote about the team. The broadcasters of the game and that whole crew that praised Bagent after. The problem isn’t so much radio caller types, but there seems to be a growing sense from beat writers that Poles is solidified in his role and he’s happy to keep Eberflus.

it’s annoying that the bar has been set so low that an ugly win, without covering the spread, is garnering much positivity about the guys that got us here.

You know, this team is bad enough that you don't have to struggle so hard to be a sourpuss about them.  The defense is looking good, even better with Sweat (go figure).  Poles has made some really good moves and has had a couple of mistakes.  Particularly Velus and Claypool.  This team is looking better, and we still have a lot of resources and draft picks upcoming.  I am excited to see what Fields looks like when he comes back.  He was looking better before the injury and the o-line seems like its improved since then.

that’s the type of embracing the losing mentality that irks me.

Poles has done a terrible job. He can’t be trusted to run this team.
