Loosely translated this means let the bears get rolled.

Chicago travels down to New Orleans this week and are 6.5 point dogs? It was 5 prior to the Chargers game. So getting blown out by Herbert gives Vegas a little more confidence in Derek Carr, who has mixed in some stinkers with solid games. Competent veteran QBs can run roughshod over this team, and by most measures, Carr qualifies for this category.

will fields play? Probably not. But the saints have a good enough pass defense to create a major challenge to this group.

If Fields is out for the 3rd straight week, and with a game the following Thursday, and him unlikely to go then on a short week, it begs the questions, why they didn't put him on IR?

Even if Fields does practice some late in this week and he has a full week or so to get ready for Carolina, then it still doesn't make sense to NOT IR him if you think he needs a full week of practice to get ready. Because you only miss out on 1 extra game with him, and that 1 game just happens to be a no-lose situation where it doesn't even matter if you win or lose.

Incompetence left and right, up and down with this franchise.

Bears/Saints facts:

Current Streak:  Saints have won 7 in a row

Last Saints win: Mitch Trubisky NVP playoff game in 2021

Last Bears win: 2008 in OT.  I was at this game and if I recall correctly, the Bears got the ball 1st in OT, got a huge pass interference call to put them in FG range, and Gould nailed it

Last Bears win in the state of Louisiana: 2005 in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina.  Believe that was also won on a last second FG

Last Bears win in the Superdome: 2003 in a game I have no recollection of and was back when the Saints were still an annual joke of a franchise.

There's apparently a limit to how many players you can return from ir in a season?

Yea, they did reinstate that rule after initially being waived during covid years and still kept last year.

But I'm not sure that's a justification really either.

Limit is 8. Bears have used on Gordon, Jones, Kramer, St Brown, Blackwell, Jenkins, and Herbert by my count so may be some justification.

That being said, knowing the limit makes it dumber that they used IR/R spots on a 6th CB and a 4th C who missed all of 2022.

What would be the advantage of putting him on IR? A roster spot? For whom? The top of this roster is bad, the bottom of it is completely worthless. They aren’t competitive this season, so there is no value in absolute best game day roster for weeks 7-10, and a marginal upgrade on special teams when there was/is a chance Fields could be back before IR would allow

I was at this game.  Deuce ran all over the Bears and Kordell Stewart was your QB.  Ah, the Jim Haslett era.

I was at that game but the Bears lost. I remember watching game 5 of the NLCS on Bourbon Street afterwards and not too upset the Cubs lost. Prior and Wood were going at home for game 6 and 7.

I think I’m all the way out on Poles if he lets more homegrown talent go despite being in a great spot financially.

Yeah. It certainly begs the question what the plan is. If they’re not accumulating young talent, what are they even doing here?

such a disaster, from Halas Hall to Solider Field and all the way down the line.

Delay, deny and deflect

Not paying players is the new market efficiency. People watched the Patriots spend two decades letting guys walk away and forget about all the other things that made them great. Front offices get criticized for wasting money all the time. “Off-season champions” are routinely mocked. The process is all that matters. As long as future value is theoretically involved you can always convince a good section of a fan base that things are looking up.

And not spending ownership’s money is one way to extend your employment without the pesky demand of trying to win games.

Ryan Poles wanted to lose games in 2022. He did not care about trying to win in 2023 and if he gets a chance to return in 2024, I do not think piling up victories will be high on his priority list.

Screw you, Poles. You have roughly a billion dollars in cap space and only like 4 good players on the roster. Sign the guy! What can we even get? A 3rd rounder? Odds are that 3rd rounder is much worse than JJ.

Great so they'll have even more cap space they wont use again in the offseason and for the third season in a row the team will somehow be worse despite having a ridiculous amount of resources to vastly improve it.

this year is a disaster of all disasters

how the hell do they piss off Jaylon Jones so bad?

I mean, I suppose its possible that he asked an astronomical number that made no sense but....otherwise...what the hell??

There aren't even enough good FA players to acquire with all the unused money they have. For years my dad has complained that the McCaskey family is cheap and hoarding money. I never really believed him because of the nature of Football operations, but I'm wondering now.

Looks to me like poles feels completely sure in his job and has some sort of dumb grand rebuild plan that involves way too many years and no legacy players
