I'm glad that play worked really well (and its nice to see a screen actually work), but boy I kinda hate that I know Luke Getsy is sitting there smug that his little trickeration worked with this guy

Why does it feel like people are playing a lot harder for Bagent?

A smart QB makes it look like players are playing harder, but it’s really just knowing how to manage an offense

Yeah, I get the people who might say "Bagent isn't really doing anything." That is somewhat true. But the offense is actually working. So why not just run this offense with Fields? Because Fields can't run this type of offense.

I hate to admit that i'm 95% of the way there

There were some folks saying after Fields's injury that last week was the last time we'd see him start a Bears game, and I thought that was bonkers (provided he is able to come back healthy this season, which I think is pretty realistic), but man. It might be. Not a huge chance, mind, but possible.

I think this is primarily the situation. Bagent's strengths play to Getsy's strengths. Getsy is unable to shift his play calling to take advantage of what Fields does best.

My estimation of bagent is going up.

I still don’t think he’s more than a backup but at no point has he looked overwhelmed or out of sync which I expected in his first start. He’s definitely an NFL QB of some sort.

And again I'm forced to ask - what is that?

What Fields does best is use his legs to salvage plays that he failed to execute properly to begin with.

Deep balls and his legs. Getsy was too busy trying to make him a pocket passer with quick reads and screens.

You can't call deep balls for him because he won't throw them. He's got a great deep ball when he throws it, but you're gonna eat about 5 sacks trying to get there.

“A Chicago legend is being born!”

It's too bad we cannot give Bagent Fields' arm or Fields Bagent' ability to process and get the ball out quick.  Quite probably if Bagent had a bigger arm there's a chance he may have been drafted.

My theory is that the fact that running backs can be of relatively normal height compared to other positions means that there's a much larger pool of athletes to choose from and thus more guys who can fill the job competently for nfl teams.
