Most of that RD bad luck we had earlier in the year has to have evened itself out at this point lol.  Nothing but close wins....I love it!!

What a series.

With the Brewers playing the Phillies next, if the Cubs can take care of business against the Reds, they will be in really good shape and will be breathing right down the neck of one of either the Brewers or Phillies.

ok with the win today, the Cubs now technically control their destiny in the NL Central.

Which means they controlled it before today too.

Cubs take 2 of 3 despite being outscored for the series, 8-6. But it's about time we had some run differential luck.

This team has showed an enormous amount of grit in the last few months. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do in September and hopefully into October.

Damn that feels good.  To be the team that put the brakes on MIL’s streak makes me think the Cubs might have something ‘brewing’

Someone needs to talk to Cliff Floyd about how the playoffs work. He keeps preaching how important it is to win the division versus a Wild Card berth, apparently not understanding that the #3 division winner also has to play in the Wild Card round.

Haha, I should have meant theyve left the series controlling their destiny.

Yeah, it's cliché and super hokey but the old "I want winners" from Singletary has some merit.  Even a guy like Morel who's been terrible of late hit the ball really hard and forced them to make a play.  This team has some guys with huge cajones and Justin Steele is near the top of the list for me.

Man if Hendricks is going to keep pitching like this you might as well pick up his team option next year.

I want that if for no other reason than to see how far he can climb up the Cubs All-Time strikeout list.  He is currently sitting at #8 and #7 would be in reach next year.  It is amazing to think of him being on the Top 10 list.

I've been banging that drum for awhile though I questioned it a bit at times.  I think there's value to Hendricks in the clubhouse too and working with the other pitchers.  I don't want to pick it up if its going to make it difficult to sign Belli or another high profile FA, but there's definitely worse things you can spend $16 million on.
